This is the ambient version of Voice. The piece is created from a flute improvisation loaded in a QU-Bit nebulae buffer combined with a voice like electronic texture from the Moog Mother-32 and granular delay algorithm of the Erica Synth Pico DSP. The plucking sound is produced with the frequency modulation (FM) model of the Mutable Instruments Plaits module.

Toad close to the lagoon at night

This unedited and unprocessed recording (from an unattended overnight recording) runs from 05:16 to 06:56. It was recorded at a location about 315 metres from the shore of the Coorong lagoon, at the nearest point, and about 3.5 kilometres from the ocean shore, at the nearest point, on the far side of the dunes that enclose the lagoon, from which the eternal environing ‘Coorong roar’ emanates. A list of some of the birds that can be heard in this recording will be added a little later.

This is the long version of the parallel recording, made at the same time by an unattended rig about one kilometre away, farther inland, with very similar magpie vocalisations and interactions. But the overall soundscape and temporal flow feel subtly different.

The recording begins at 8:26 am. The location is 1.3 kilometres from the nearest point of rock and cliff coastline, but most of the audible ocean sound is actually coming from Tunkalilla Beach, between 1.5 and 6.5 kilometres away.
