Since first appearing on the scene Simon Bates has always exemplified what it means to be a true house DJ. His passion for house music has continued to blossom over the years as both his tastes and style have developed him into a vibrant and talented musical artist. 
The passions Simon embodies were first realized as he broke into his later teenage years. At the age of sixteen he discovered his love for house music after being introduced to the world of vinyl records through admiring his brother on his turntables. This opened an entire new world of possibilities for Simon and he soon found himself attending regular house nights where he found himself engrossed by the music played by DJ’s such as” Micky Slim, Dirty South, Dave Spoon and Out of Office.” 

It became apparent to Si that this wasn’t just an interest, it had become a full-blown obsession! Si found himself coming to terms with this realization that this was a career that he needed to pursue. Once he had acquired his turntables he then taught himself how to DJ whilst gradually improving his technique through years of practice and various gigs that he managed to get feature on. With Si being born in Manchester and growing up there, the original nights that he played were all located within the fair city which in turn allowed him to build up an elite following of Mancunian house music fanatics. 

Through his experiences of the gigs he continued to perform at, it gradually became apparent that different crowds would only satisfied by a broader range of house music and through his own technical ability he tweaked his own style to satisfy their appetites. 
As Si continued to introduce new elements into his music he soon found himself expanding into production in an attempt to create his own tracks that would display the varied style that his talents evoked. This would then allow him to continue onto the Leeds electro house scene, which showcased such productions as “DKNY, Shake on it, Jump around, Wooohaa and Gangster Tripping.” 

Soon Si found his popularity soaring and an increasing public demand for him to perform changed his focus onto different aspects of house production. He slowly transcended from electro into a deeper sound that allowed him to perform at different house events. It was during this time that Si soon started the process of finding himself a relevant name that would act as his signature. He eventually settled on the alias of “Make or Break” which acts as kind of pseudonym that he uses to address himself. As of today “Make or Break” is producing more professionally sounding tracks that have been signed to labels “Love not Money” Maison Records and Sequential records whilst he continues to improve and develop a broader range of worldwide house music.
