In a silent way, the deep & slow: from Jamdowns nyabinghi poetry to Kalahari jazz chants , from Atlantas Gospel  churches to carpatian ritual folk melodies, music is the healing force of the universe.

Once upon a rickety ship, sailed Trikk and Gabriel Massan on a voyage fantastical, To the land of rhythm and beats, where dreams turned magical. Their music, a wondrous creation, set hearts aflutter and souls to soar, "Mata Mata," a melody untamed, with its essence hard to ignore.

Innervisions, the mystical realm, where musical spirits danced and played, Welcomed the duo with open arms, their talent grandly displayed. But lo and behold! Working Men's Club, the sorcerers of sound, Embarked on a mission to remix, adding their touch profound.

Like a cauldron brewing, the remix simmered, enchantment in the air, The beats electrified, melodies transformed with flair. The dancefloor trembled with delight, as bodies moved in perfect sync, The crowd bewitched, captivated, with every rhythmic link.

Trikk's vocals entwined with Gabriel's, harmonies whispered in the night, A symphony of enchantment, a dazzling musical sight. Innervisions revelled in the magic, their spirits soaring high, Trikk, Gabriel, and Working Men's Club, in musical harmony they lie.

And so, the tale of "Mata Mata" weaves through time and space, A fusion of talents, a mesmerising chase. Edward Lear would surely smile, at this whimsical display, As music's magic unfolded, in Lear's peculiar way.

Trikk's debut album, Fauna & Flora was released earlier this year on Innervisions and showcased collaborations with artists such as Jimi Jules and Gabriel Massan. The album blends club music with art-rock, punk, and post-punk elements. Now comes remix EP featuring Roman Flügel, Or:la, and the jackin' Working Men's Club which we're premiering here...

"The first time I heard this I said "I gotta sign it!" as not only was it featured in one of the maddest and most memorable scenes on one of my favorite TV Shows "Severance" from Apple TV, but it's also on one of my favourite albums anyway, "Nation Time" by Joe McPhee.
Takumi Moriya's version Is as funky as it gets and is truly way up there and meeting the high as a kitemark standards of "Defiant Jazz" (What a Niche Genre to be in!) This is going to cause some serious defiant Jazz Shake on a dancefloor near you! Break out the Maraccas!"

Mixed and compiled by CAN FAN, completist and friend and collaborator to various CAN members, Andy Votel, using all original German Vinyl Pressings. Uploaded here via Finders Keepers in tribute to the tragic loss of another legendary CAN pioneer HOLGER CZUKAY who passed away in early September 2017. R.I.P.

Hollow Thing is littered with lyrics that reference something ending and then something beginning again. It’s a twisted pick me up!

‘Hollow Thing' is the second single to be taken from LIFE’s new album. Produced by Luke Smith (Foals) and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts), the band home in on a bigger and more focused sound whilst also channelling the lyrical content inwards. Whereas the band’s debut album ‘Popular Music’ was broadly political, the new album takes a more personal approach with beguilingly honest and brave lyrics that are bold in both sound and feeling, whilst also retaining the core DNA of their previous material.

Going on to speak about the album Mez says “A Picture of Good Health is not a collage of work but rather a snapshot of time; our time and the time of those around us. It’s political, but in a personal way. It’s a body of work that explores and examines the band's inner-selves through a precise period; a period that has brought pain, loneliness, blood, guts, single parenthood, depression and the need for survival and love. It is the sense and need for belonging that is the resounding end note!”

Having last month announced their October–released new album Somebody’s Knocking via the addictive and uptempo “Stitch It Up”, Mark Lanegan Band have today shared a more wistful, downtempo track from the LP entitled “Playing Nero”.
