Kobe JT makes his first official release on the label alongside vocal staple Lyrical Strally who makes his second successive FNG appearance after the hugely successful ‘Clouds’ alongside Higgo & Dakota Sixx. This time the YGG member pays homage to the boozy nights helping us paint a picture of the all too familiar nights as a raver skipping all over Kobe JT’s dance floor ready 2-step heater.

Kobe JT is a name on the UKG scene’s lips and touted as the next best thing to happen by many and it's not hard to hear why, receiving support from the likes of UKG legend DJ EZ, as well as Flava D, Sammy Virji, Rinse figurehead IZCO and the Prince of UKG - Conducta, who also brought him through for Kiwi Hush 2 in 2019. Still only 22 years of age and having worked with the likes of Conducta, Logan and GHSTLY XXVII amongst others and a discography spanning across Downplay (Slime Recordings), Strictly Flava, Wang Records and of course Kiwi Records where the Gloucestershire producer featured on the Kiwi Sound Compilation CD in 2020, he’s already proving to be primed and ready to take a grip of the scene.

The 22 year old producer was on 1Forty’s radar for some time before receiving a submission off the back of the 1Forty Acapellas drop at the start of the pandemic. A UKG take on Killa P’s ‘Rate Us’ came through, a track bursting with soulful summer vibes paired with the ragga style meant it was an instant addition to the 1Forty Acapellas EP.

Lyrical Strally first featured on the label back in 2018 with ‘Grime Street’ as the lead track on 1FGRM003, a track that went on to be premiered by Complex UK, visuals that landed via SB:TV, and although it was released at the very end of the year before, was featured in Sir Spyro’s ‘Best Of Grime 2019’ on his 1Xtra show. Throughout 2019 the relationship between artists and label was ever present from the release as well as Travis being part of the 1Forty Takeover on BBC Radio 1 w/ Toddla T. Lyrical Strally went on to join the bill at the 1Forty Manchester Launch in March alongside fellow YGG members PK and DJ Travis T as well as an appearance on Marcus Nasty’s Rinse show that summer. Some six months later another beat from Jhuttz landed in the 1Forty mailbox with a sound of grime very much fitting for a YGG revival after two years since their last release ‘Strikers’ on Astral Black, paving the way for ‘Royals’.

Following that the Strally turned his attention to the labels UKG output pairing with Higgo and Dakotaa Six for ‘Clouds’ which ended up being a hit with no particular DJ support, but instead carried massive weight independently with the streamers leading to Spotify picking it up for editorial playlists. A year later Strally is ready to turn his hand to the labels UKG output once again alongside Kobe.

After the huge success of Honey Riddim alongside Snowy in the spring, 1FFNG004 sees the return of Murder He Wrote under very different circumstances. Having being one of the leading names in the UK Funky scene in recent years Murder He Wrote has served up his first ever vocal UKG release with one of the stand out MCs of 2019 - Logan.

With influences spanning UKG, Hip-Hop, Dancehall and Drum & Bass, MHW is one of the most distinctive producers in the UK’s fertile bass scene. His original productions have seen him not just make himself right at home on Roska Kicks And Snares but his prolific remix schedule has taken in official reworks that have released across the likes of Black Butter, Universal and Skrillex’s NEST imprint. The last couple of years have seen performances in China, Australia and Canada whilst maintaining a healthy schedule across the UK and Europe, shows and festivals alike. Regular appearances on the airwaves included Guest Mix’s and shows on Rinse FM and NTS since, not to forget BBC Radio 1 where Toddla T named him as one of his Freshman 2017 alongside AJ Tracey and Nadia Rose. This year has seen MHW on remix duties once again for various labels as well as a release on his own imprint - Rhythm Athletic, a release on Swing Ting with MC Fox and of course one of the stand out tracks this year in the UK Funky scene - ‘Honey Riddim’ alongside Snowy. This lead to being invited back to BBC Radio 1 in August to do Annie Nightingales ‘Quest Mix’. MHW already has collabs lined up with NYTA and MC Fox and a third Australia & New Zealand Tour lined up for 2020.

The last couple of years have seen a wealth of new talent rear its head in the Grime scene. A group that is often referred to as the next generation of Grime. One of those names is Logan, the North West Londoner started producing and MCing in 2002. Music took a backseat going into his teens as he was one of the best track athletes in his UK age group going into 2014 before injury struck which saw his future in sports derailed. 2016 saw him brush himself down and pick music back up vocaling tracks and rolling through to radio through much of 2017/18 which really saw him start to make a name for himself. It is 2019 that has really seen Logan come into his own though as both an artist and an MC, being picked up for LOTM8 by Jammer paired with a string of high profile releases making him without doubt one the most versatile names of the next generation. With releases across MoreTime Records, with Kouslin on Durkle Disco and Idris Elba’s Yardie Mixtape respectively says all you need to know. There is also honourable mentions for tracks ‘Like Me’ with Treble Clef and ‘Ready Fi Di War’ with Trends both of which gained significant traction across the BBC, Rinse & Reprezent also. Making himself a Grime Originals mainstay and being one of the most active names at Outlook Festival shelling down boat parties and stages alike throughout the week, December see’s Logan round off a stellar year with ‘Worthwhile’, using one of his trademark ad-libs to make a sub-low UKG banger.
