Rachel Noon is a versatile DJ whose multi-dimensional flare can be traced back to her 90s NYC rave roots.
Her sets explore a vast range of speeds and sonic weights, often transmit elements of futuristic psychedelia, and always hinge on moments of surprise. She is also resident of Unter and the founder of Large Marge, a queer femme-focused platform and techno event series that seeks to fill a void which she saw in NYC nightlife targeted towards women.

In times of #Corona people have to keep touching each other without really physically touching each other, by staying #connected in their hearts and minds. This is possible and necessary in order to strengthen the cohesion within the population and to show #solidarity among each other. Through small gestures of attention, helpfulness, encouragement, contact, encouraging words and especially #sharing #music, we can help each other to overcome this unprecedented state of emergency and to remain an #inclusive and #supportive #community.

Our goal is to create a new #opportunity for #DJs from all over the world to share their music without borders and stay #connected #digitally. Moreover the artists will share their personal opinion about the #quarantine situation, explain how it affects them and how they try to deal with it.

Even if it is no longer possible for us to be together physically for an indefinite period of time and to live out our joy and love for music in #clubs and at #festivals, we can still #participate in each other’s lives through an online connection and stand this through together. Although states have #locked their #borders to each other, we shouldn’t create borders in our heads. Now is the time to get rid of all the borders in our minds and tear down the walls in our hearts - we’re in this #together.

Lag is a Dj and very respected producer, who is strong in creating grooves and rhythms, often offbeat but still dancefloor oriented. His music has made regular appearances on labels such as Mord, Elements, THEM and lately Upperberry, plus a number of remixes on imprints such as Green Fetish Records, Coincidence Records and Metempsychosis Records. Beside being a strong producer and touring DJ, Lag is also an active supporter of up and coming producers with a Twitch live stream and series of feedback sessions. 

In this chat, we go deep into making offbeat music, why this may / may not work for everyone, and we explore the beginnings of ‘broken techno’. We talk about holding contrasting opinions with people and we also touch on the subjects of anxiety and depression. If this wasn’t enough for a single podcast (both Lag and I could talk forever!), we explore the natural narcissism that affects creators and the evergreen topic of finding fulfillment. In all of this, what strikes us is not only Lag’s preparation and strong passion for his craft, but also his capacity of not taking things too seriously.

FUSE21 - Voicedrone (FOLD, Natural Selection)

Bringing our FUSE series to a worthy finale, is someone we will forever hold dear to us; our brother, resident and @Foldldn co-founder, Lasha Jorjoliani aka @Voicedrone . 

If you have lived in, or followed what's been going on in London for the last couple of years, this man will need no introduction as he has lead what could only be described as a revolution in the London electronic music scene, since the birth of his infamous 24-hour club, institution, and now record label; FOLD. Although an undeniable figurehead of the scene, Voicedrone is by no means explicitly tied to co-founding FOLD. Before it's inception, Lasha travelled his own personal journey into the scene. Hailing originally from Georgia and arriving into the U.K. to pursue his music career, he built his reputation through sheer will. In 2016 he established his own label Imprfct. and his well engineered productions have seen him release on other labels such as Bipolar Disorder, Ear To Ground Records and LDNWHT. Four years on, Lasha has gained huge notoriety, partly down to his core passion to create and nurture community. This purpose is channelled into every event he plays - here in London, in Europe and beyond. 

Undoubtedly the greatest thing to have happened for Natural Selection since our inception in 2010, was being brought into the FOLD family and we are eternally grateful to Lasha and FOLD for their endless support, and for believing in our vision and allowing us to fully spread our wings in what we now call our true home. We felt the final edition of our FUSE series had to symbolise and pay homage to this very special bond and there was no-one more fitting than our very own Voicedrone to see out the series with a significant bang. 

To have this legend on the Natural Selection frontline is an absolute honour and we are proud to be able to present to you his exclusive FUSE mix.

The work of VHS on ‘Textura’ is built upon a Detroit blueprint and leans towards the classic minimalist and sci-fi approach championed by the Motor City’s ‘second wave’. The unsettling textures disrupt reality through a series of oxidising and bold manoeuvres, forging a dirty and futuristic atmosphere.
