For the 119th edition of Desert Hut Podcast Series, we’re pleased to welcome Raidho.

RAIDHO is one of the twenty four runes that comprise the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It represent important changes and personal development in all spheres of life. Raidho is a manifestation of rhythm and cosmic equilibrium, determined by the cyclical movement of sunrise and sunset and the changing seasons.

This is where the name of this new musical project came into being. Raidho is a combination of modern electronic music with ethnic and folk elements from various corners of the world. The project started in late 2017 and has already made it into the TOP50 best selling artists worldwide in Electronica / Downtempo on Beatport. RAIDHO has released more then 14 tracks through Iboga Records, Otake Records, the American labels Sol Selectas Records and Pipe & Pochet, as well as German record labels Acker Records, 3000Grad and Bar25 Music. The last one is named after the legendary Berlin club Bar25. All the original tracks released to date have been featured in the TOP40 bestsellers chart in the Electronica / Downtempo genre on Beatport (including 3 times on TOP10) and received huge support from all over the world including Acid Pauli, Audiofly, Sabo, Lee Burridge, Behrouz, Oliver Koletzki, Blond:Ish, Be Svendsen, SIS, Kora (CA), Just Emma, Britta Arnold, just to name a few.

Regular quality releases by well-known international labels as well as being a member of the Sol Selectas Records family have led to appearances in top clubs and festivals worldwide such as Scorpios Mykonos in Greece, Be Tulum and Besos Tulum in Mexico, Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) in The Netherlands, Audioriver Festival in Poland, or Burning Man in the US where he played 5 shows last year. Raidho shared the decks with many epic artists. During the last 2 years he has played with Lee Burridge, Rampue, Viken Arman, Be Svendsen, Armen Miran, Oliver Koletzki, Sabo and Goldcap, among many others.

In his work and sets you can expect magical raptures and hypnotic sounds intertwined with ethnic elements.

Here is my live set from Burning Man. Thank you White Ocean for inviting me on your gorgeous stage on this Tuesday Sunset. I still can’t believe it. Exactly one year ago I had just created a soundcloud and put online a first series of live sets (“SENSA”) and never I would have imagined that a year later I would be playing at White Ocean. This set represents then everything that happened during this magical year. It is a journey I wanted to put into music in order to share it, and where else than the Burn ? This ultimate experience turned out to be the perfect culminating point of a first episode of this new journey and put my ways to see things into new perspectives. 
Thank you for all the people present dancing and supporting me every day and, again the White Ocean crew.
Because of the dust, I had to re-record the parts where my computer crashes.

Good morning Hekske 😊

➢ I hope you agree to answer a few random and fun questions to share with our listeners?

Sure, it’s the first time of my life I’m doing some sort of interview (and probably the last time as well). So let’s do this 😊

➢ To start you off tell us what song puts you in a good mood when you wake up in the morning?

Well, generally I already wake up in a good mood every morning so no need to listen to music. Occasionally I’m listening to ‘4ware’ from Deadmau5 to pump myself full of energy for the whole day.

➢ About three years ago you decided to invite your first DJ guest onto your witchtapes podcast. Tell us briefly what was your dream then and how has it maybe changed today?

Well, in early 2017 I made the very first mini-mixes of my life (these are witchtapes 1-2-3). At that point I was contacted by a Tunisian artist named Samer Soltan and he asked whether he could release a mix on my soundcloud page. I replied that my page was not a channel, only to change my mind 24 hours later, so we gave it a go and that became Witchtape #4. And the rest is history. It was only 8 months later (with Witchtape #14) that I started writing fairy tales about the now-famous little witch. So it really took quite a while before my channel really took shape. At the start of my channel I was basically just clueless so there actually was no dream or vision … it just happened.

➢ As someone who also runs a podcast series, what are some of the criteria when inviting artists to do a mix for you?

When I sense that an artist is resonating with the mystic-magic vibe of my channel, an invitation may follow sooner rather than later 😊

➢ 2020 has been a difficult year for the music scene, how has it changed within your hometown and what do you think will be different in the future?

Oh well, my hometown is easily the sleepiest town in Belgium, with no such thing as a music scene, apart from a carnival band named ‘Fret Tet & The Swinging Tepelboys’ which you can translate as ‘Fred Tit & The Swinging Nippleboys’. But given the dramatic corona situation in Belgium, the nipples have stopped shaking in 2020 … the carnival parade of 2021 has already been cancelled so I guess the nipples will only resume swinging in 2022.

➢ Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose?

Last summer, while doing some paintwork in my house, I was listening on repeat to ‘Long Story Short’, an absolutely epic podcast from Vincent Gericke from 3 years ago. I decided to make some kind of tribute mix and picked 3 tracks from ‘Long Story Short’ and started weaving some new tracks around that, while preserving most of the original atmosphere. After that I got a bit stuck for a few weeks until out of the blue an unknown DJ gave me the id of a track I had requested over 1 year ago. So that became my opening track. Still the middle section didn’t work out, until all of a sudden I realized that I had an unreleased Vincent Gericke track somewhere on a USB stick (which he sent to me 2 years ago). And suddenly all pieces fell together

Music and sound are very important tools used in our seminar. Music is a vibrational state that has the ability to raise and alter our state of consciousness. Here we present our selection of talented DJs and musicians, that  the sound experience at our immersion parties.
