Hedrich Báez, pianist, keyboard player and composer, interested in the
fusion of Afro-dominican music with other genres. In search for new
sonorities he creates the project Hedrich Báez & La Juntiña, with the
collaboration of Magic Mejía in percussion arrangements. Afrodominican
jazz that is taking risks and making and honest bet, progressively
navigating from a mix of jazz with the familiar taste of merengue,
to the more traditional folk rhythms of the island. The sound
transmits the strength of the ancestral in a more contemporary sound
environment, enabling this music to draw all kinds of public closer to
the jazz language, braking barriers in and unusual yet organic way.
