Out of Fashion Boys Compilation Vol.2: Punch Drunk

Punch Drunk refers to the dizziness when fighters get rocked, pretty much resembles to the numbness after five six Vodka shots. We borrowed this concept to name our compilation, hoping it delivers the same experience aurally and emotionally even without Vodka. So that you may keep your feet on the ground when the real punch comes. As Buddhism says, "All sufferings are caused by omissions.” All those omissions (joys and sorrows to put it simple) are punches to our life, where all our false satisfaction and desperation are punch drunk. Wish we can stay sober, or just straight out get a "punch drunk".

Punch Drunk指的是在格斗比赛或现实中被重拳击中产生的眩晕感，就像是一口干掉一杯伏特加后对整个世界都失去了知觉。我们借用这个概念来命名这张合辑，是希望让每个人即使不喝伏特加，也能够在听感和情绪上体会punch drunk。等到哪一天真的迎来一记“punch”时，希望你能站稳。就像佛教所讲的有漏皆苦, 所有的“漏”（简单理解为过喜或悲的情绪）都是一记punch，我们对生活的所有虚假的满足与绝望也是punch drunk，希望我们能保持清醒，否则就干脆享受punch drunk吧。

Alex Yiu is a sound artist, music producer, curator, and a researcher based in Hong Kong. He is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. His research interest including the current deconstructed club music scene on social media, Hong Kong Underground music scene, and many others music/sound-related topics. As one of the member of the local underground club music collective Absurd TRAX, he has performed and deejayed in numerous venues and platforms such as XXX, OIL Club, ALL Club, Sónar Hong Kong 2019, Times Museum, Tai Kwun Contemporary, NTS Radio and many others.

Hong Kong based producer and DJ. ASJ refers to ‘A Spiritual Journey’, ASJ first started out DJing and producing in Taiwan while her pursuing university studies in the city. Everything started off from her experience of a spiritual awakening. When she started to respect and love herself more, every encounter is a blessing. Life is a playground , a constant reminder of the purpose she came on earth for, to be what she is passionate at and become one with the universe. After joining Sonia Calico’s label UnderU, her music was first then introduced via the label’s compilation “WAREHOUSE”. Her first digital LP “The Road to Become One” was released afterwards via Hong Kong local Label Absurd Tax.

Based in Hong Kong but raised by the internet, Kelvin T is an electronic musician utilising music as the means to deliver tangible sonic experiences. Born as Tang Fong Ching Kelvin, he has been honing his craft of music production since 16 years old, seeking new sounds every now and then. He first joined the Shanghai-based label Genome 6.66 Mbp in 2016 and Hong Kong-based label Absurd TRAX on the same year. Performed in Boiler Room’s first event in Hong Kong and in Sonar Hong Kong’s 2017 & 2018 event, Kelvin T still felt the need to propel musically, both from within himself and beyond himself.

Anima is the new EP of Berlin based multi instrumentalist and music producer Tom Willems (TCV).

The five tracks comprising the record showcase digitally heavy, brute soundscapes full of uncompromising rhythm and melody. Drawing inspiration from classic genres like gabber and industrial, TCV articulates a sound that is highly abrasive but often surprises with poetic verity.

As the track names indicate, the record conceptually is concerned with the human body and its perception as something which can be both fragile and powerful. TCV unveils, that a traumatising phase of his life, inspired him to process his impressions of lifelessness being inhabited by machine-power. Witnessing how new wealth and vitality is being pumped into a corpus made him fascinate about this passive recreation. The idea of a life depending on mechanical forces, repeating and recovering, is echoing through his acoustic concept. Each track thereby communicates a different stage of a physical transitioning, thus a metamorphosis in whole.
