Pippy’s “World of Machines”:  A concept album designed to immerse the listener into an industrial world, void of life and covered with machines.  Each track focuses on a specific region of a post-apocalyptic world which lives on mechanically.  Inspirations for this piece come from observations of industry, world events of 2020, and exploitation of our mother and provider.

Tsimiski str. is the shopping center and one of the major roads of the city. It is crowded with stores and people. Walking on the pedestrian road in some cases is a challenge, as your personal space is seriously invaded by another person’s shopping bag. Not during the lockdown days though. No commercial music coming out of mall which want to attract your attention, no more sentences floating in the air like “I want to buy this and that”, only few cars on the road and the light of the police car standing there for its regular now patrol.

Tsimiski st.

Every element in this song is made from three samples of ice cubes in a glass that I recorded on my phone. I put the samples in Ableton and with Simpler and sound design editing (Effects, panning, sample manipulation etc.) I created around 10 drum elements and 3 melodic elements from these samples. Plus I spread the raw samples into the track, with very light pan editing. I put the rhythms down quite quickly, because I wanted to make this track as fast as possible. Hope you enjoy!
