At last! This is Lost Soul Enterprises big 15th release on wax, a tidy compilation of off-kilter dance floor cuts and misfit synthpunk anthems.
Side A commences with the gothic, neon-soaked Miami bass of ALONZO's "Cruising with Pap," featuring sinister verses delivered by a shadowy syrup-sipping secret guest vocalist. Up next is bucking bronco NICK KLEIN's slow-mo industrial headbanger "Posture Test.” The sonic equivalent of a sweat-soaked concrete floor, it lurches along at its own mechanical pace amid the metallic hiss and howl. Lastly, wild synth lines and ethereal dubbed-out samples dart in and out over a tough, punchy rhythmic foundation in NAEEM's "TLX," an android's sci-fi electro vision gone haywire.
On the B side, HEIDI SABERTOOTH’s “Was It You” launches us deep into chugging acidic territory, combining enigmatic spoken vocals and a psychedelic, slowly evolving SH-101 line over a persuasive groove. Like a slap in the face after that comes raucous synth-punk powerhouse SSPS with “Paradise Lozt,” raw as fuck, chanting a litany of dystopian tales atop pumping drums and a wash of demented organ-like synth stabs. Finally we close with the short but powerful “New Vape City” by the nomadic DOUCE ANGOISSE - an absolute earworm, a doleful coldwave ballad whose lush production plays perfect counterpoint to the icy, deadpan sentiments within.

Following appearances on Ellen Allien’s UFO Inc and Bpitch Control, Lobster Theremin, and many more, NYC-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and producer Heidi Sabertooth readies her first appearance on New York Trax this January, turning in a fierce four track EP of gritty hardware techno jams.

@dj-koolt has been pivotal to the rise of his native Uruguayan scene ever since he started spinning in the 90s. Rooted in Montevideo, he made it one of the most exciting places to hear minimalist dance music. Its spiritual home is Phonotheque, the club he co-founded a decade ago and where he lays down his forward-thinking sounds to a devoted and hardcore fan base. 

The scene Godfather goes big for us this week with a two-hour deep dive into his sound. It perfectly showcases his silky transitions and ability to tell stories on the dance floor. Acid, breaks and techno are the foundational sounds but they are embellished in signature style with plenty of spaced-out designs, a sense of gritty industrial futurism and plenty of avant-garde electronics.

NYC-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Heidi Sabertooth has a serious love for hardware. She's been creating her unique brand of grit-laced drum loops and vintage acid machine music since 2012, pushing out beautiful noise, from the delicate to the jarring. Her highly lauded live hardware performances and vinyl-heavy dj sets have cemented her own place among NYC’s techno community and beyond. Sweater On Polo’s music foregrounds the hardware, with a livewire, straight-out-the-box energy that cannot be denied. As both a live artist and DJ, he’s going in on a tight, Chicago-informed approach. But this is no retro trip; Sweater on Polo incorporates his influences and makes them his own.

Lobster returns to it's scorched earth roots with a dark, gritty blend of techno-based power traxx from New York staple Heidi Sabertooth.

Tracks scraped from the surface of the NY underground. Proper hardware jams with a raw, scorched edge!

Eyes Are Watching combines punched kicks, squelched synths and pitched-down grunting mosh vox. The mood then lightens a touch for the hypnotic, dusty hardware workout Non Such. Jackin' Chitown vibes peppered with plucked & arp'd synths.

On the flip Makin Cutz is pure can-recorded techno. Overdrive-central in a caged industrial basement. Detuned acid & raw af hammering drum programming. Then for the finishing move, Weeding Through Distortion adds some off-club IDM-tinged sonic flavour to proceedings. Echoes of early Warp (think elements of Autechre live in Wakefield in the early 90's) shot through with some hard US noise processing. A tough, melodic gem.
