Several times a week I visit the small Rixdorfer pond in the Hasenheide park in Neukölln. Every year from May to June, frog concerts can be heard here during the mating season. I recorded them in 2010 - the piece "Froschmix" was created from this. The pond still exists, the footbridge had to be renovated. After being closed for a long time, it has been accessible again since September 2019 and leads a short distance around the pond. This footbridge invites you to linger and listen to the surroundings - this summer, however, I noticed that the frog concerts have become less intense and much quieter. The quieter the concerts, the fewer frogs live in the pond? Did I miss the concert? 
The "Froschmix" is the basis of the new piece composed for this venue. The frogs of 2010 can connect with the current soundscape; should frogs be heard in the summer, they will be supported by the former ones.

Artefacts

This piece consists of material from separately recorded tunings of four string instruments: cello, viola, double bass, and electric bass. Through each step of tuning, a development within this multi-channel composition derives; ultimately merging the individually captured moments, as well as the respective players’ individual sense of listening.

Vier Musiker*innen wurden gebeten, ihr Instrument zu stimmen, deren Tonaufnahmen die Basis dieser Komposition sind. Die Klänge der nach individuellem Gehör gestimmten Instrumente verbinden sich. Mikrotonale Verschiebungen werden räumlich. Es entsteht eine elektroakustische Komposition zwischen Verstimmung und Konvergenz. Geräuschhaft kontrastiert durch Klänge der Wirbel.

Tuned

Direktverbindung is a composition based on radio sounds. The radio itself becomes sound source and instrument: the sound will be generated by new connections on the circuit board of the radio device, and by broadcasting fragments. The result is an Ad-hoc-composition derived from processed and live generated radio sounds combined with sounds of recorded instruments (harp and vibraphone)
