Fixation

I wrote this track in the garden of a hostel I stayed at in Albania earlier this year, during European summer. The garden was massive, full of orange trees, hammocks, wind chimes, cats, and dogs, and was surrounded by huge, green mountains. It was situated in a small coastal town called 'Himarë', and you could feel the cool breezes from the ocean. It was so peaceful. When I think about my stay here, it feels like I'm dreaming. 

This song was made by resampling all the tracks from Four Tet's 'Three' album (excluding the bonus tracks). Most sounds are small bits and pieces warped to fit into a new space. I was heavily inspired by Four Tet's style at the time, in particular his track with Burial, 'Moth', one of my all-time favourite songs.

And there are also magpies in there for some reason.

What originally started off as a remix for 'Feel Free' quickly turned into something completely different... Soon into the process I added some other songs from the album to try and create something unique and interesting. Over the next few days every track from the album eventually found it’s way into the project.

P.s I couldn’t help but sample a few of his other tracks too.
