For the 19th EP on Heimlich Musik, Cologne-based producer Dario Klein delivers three gloomy bangers accompanied by remix contributions from JOIA, Samaha, Daniel Jaeger, Kapoor and Matija. Inspired by the unique vibe of the streets of Marrakech and based on live jams, the Djeema el Fna EP tells a story of music as a concept beyond consciousness. Built around melodic lead synths and broken drums, dark basslines contribute to the mesmerizing aesthetic of the original mixes JOIA’s interpretation of the title track puts on additional pressure with bass frequencies going right under your skin, while Samaha transforms Djeema el Fna into a euphoric hymn tailored for early morning hours. With an almost criminal bassline, Daniel Jaeger’s version of Rahmos is a housey floor killer. Kapoor’s remix sticks to the vibe of the original but adds a psychedelic touch using hypnotic arpeggios. Rounding up a diverse set of remixes, Matjia’s version of Rahmos is a dreamy composition with a touch of optimism garnished by organic percussions.
The latest EP on Heimlich Musik is painting a colorful picture of downtempo ranging from smooth grooves over melodic tech to cutting-edge industrial bleeps.

After setting the tone with two originals and one remix with us back in 2020, Berlin-based producer Fabian Krooss returns this year with his debut solo sortie, 'Planet D'. A nod to the ecological nonsense that envisages salute in departing our beloved 'Planet A' for other celestial bodies to tear down - such as a fictional 'Planet D', the EP runs the gamut from minimalistic club grooves to blissed-out tropical chuggers, via further atmospheric excursions. 

Whilst 'Time To Act' serves up a dynamic symphony of FX-laden elements joining forces to fight off anxiety for our future, Theo Meiers revamp takes the track into further functional club territory with clinical poise. The even lusher 'Night Owl' reels out as an ode to nature and its healing powers, bringing forth a vibrant mix of bassy power and refined, balearic-informed ambient scapes, whereas Midas 104s version injects just the right amount of bounce and jazz into its hypnotic folds. 'Watatata', a collaboration with Jacob Stille, smoothly takes you on the other side with an innovative and playful touch and 'Twisted Mind' simply rounds it all up with an intergalactic bang.

Channeling earthly energies with a strongly poetic power of evocation, 'Planet D' is an invitation to refocus, carried by the hope of fuelling a new, sustainable vision for tomorrow.

Her intricate layers of drum elements play perfectly off each other to provide an elefante' und elegante taste of minimal tech, that signature sound you and I so dearly love to hear from this Katerblau resident. What comes after the horizon? Four of Roderic’s fellow musicians remix his 2021 Horizon EP on this release. It starts with a 'Mu': a calm and peaceful remix penned by Iorie. He slows down the tempo, alienates sounds, and adds his familiar voice. Number two is Sascha Cawa’s energetic recyclage of 'Recycle' – how could it not sound like rusty iron blasts? Sebo remixes the title track 'Horizon', adding shakes, base, snare drum, and touching the wave. Finally, Amount also takes on 'Mu', twisting it into an ultra-slow technoid dance banger that resonates long after.

Fresh off a busy summer yet again spent casting memorable hoodoo spells upon the ravers, Hive Audio rounds off the festival season with their new compilation "Summer Slices 2022". Geared up with a choice allotment of solar grooves and deftly surgical machine funk, this round proves particularly heady and deep if anything. 

A string of mercurial slabs, perfect to transition smoothly from the sunny days into fall's hybrid ambiences, starting with Matija & Richard Elcox "Land of Zilla" - a moody, low-slung number to kick things off proper, with its ambiguously hazy atmosphere and nimble swing leading the parade. Felipe Puertes' infectious multi-strain mashup "Everything of Life" worms its way in-limbo jagged Latin house reliefs, Chicagoan soulfulness and a tang of Afro-futuristic programming. 

Swiss duo Smalltown Collective contribute a total jacking piece of arsenal with the steadily soaring "Amira", which mixes elements of Arabic folk grammar with a liquid-like, bass-powered bounce and seesawing synths from outer space. On the fractals-unfolding "Hexagon", Chris Sen & Guy Herman pull out a fine slice of verbed-out Tech House skirting on cinematic cliff-hanging, whereas Trees of Tampa shift the scope onto cosmic-indebted, space opera-friendly ambition with the enslavingly hypnotic "Sorcerer".

Flexing muscles all the way, TSCHAN's "Gosar" taps both in the classic hardcore sound, tribal techno and sino-flavoured harmonics to weave its own Frankensteinian monster of big-room effusiveness. "Under The Table" by Roman Blum belongs to a more straightforward genotype of early house laced with hints of garage and post-French touch pop-ish fun, while SOAME's "Heat" provides exactly what's written on the tin: no-nonsense onslaughts of smouldering hi-hats, dubbed-out vox stabs and buzzing synths processed to optimal floor-obliterating effect.
