Cuarteto SolTango epitomises a new generation in authentic Tango, combining the lusciousness in sound of a traditional Orquesta Típica with the verve that only chamber music can offer. Together, the four musicians interpret most different styles of classic tango right up to the Tango Nuevo of Astor Piazolla and Osvaldo Pugliese in alluring arrangements by Martin Klett.

Interesting fact: "What'll I Do" is one of the few songs by Irving Berlin that is clearly autobiographical. His fiancée, a society beauty named Ellin Mackay, had been sent to Europe by her disapproving father, a very wealthy Long Island magnate, in the hopes that MacKay would forget Berlin. (She did not and eventually they married.)

Pink Martini’s fourth studio album – Splendor In The Grass – encapsulates the band’s history and spirit of global collaboration and inclusivity. Comprised of nine original songs and four covers (with songs in English, Neapolitan, Italian, French and Spanish), Splendor In The Grass was recorded in the band’s hometown of Portland, Oregon and produced by bandleader/pianist Thomas Lauderdale and longtime collaborator and muse Alex Marashian—a college cohort of Lauderdale and vocalist China Forbes.

This 21 track ‘best of’ album includes Pink Martini’s most acclaimed numbers alongside eight previously unreleased songs in a deluxe packaging that includes a 48 page photo book of rare Polaroids taken by bandleader Thomas M. Lauderdale. The album spans the band’s 16-plus year career and features appearances by Saori Yuki, Hiroshi Wada, Michael Feinstein, Georges Moustaki and Director Gus Van Sant making his recording debut.
