Extra-Large Plants

I recently hesitated about selling my NTS-1 after it had spent a looong time on the shelf unused. I gave it a few spins, and fiddled with user-made plugins, notably the free drum machines by Ulmert (bobby and betty) and Bram Bos (ruismaker). I ended up sampling some beats and arpeggios and building this track using a few more Legowelt synth samples. Added treatment in Ableton Live, too.

Funny words from a NYT podcast transcript I had the Apple fake voices read for me. Recorded a Bastl Kastle loop, mixed it with a drum loop, timestretched and chopped that up. It's got a Black Dice vibe, I feel.

An approximation of straightforward "club" stuff, with Legowelt as an inspiration. I felt the randomly generated title fit the minor scale, but it seems that I randomly came across a phrase from the maths jargon. How lucky is that?

It started as an attempt to rip off Voodoo Ray on Reason Compact for iPhone in April 2020, and as usual the failure to do what I'd intended brought me to a place I enjoyed. Five years later I've managed to flesh out that early 3-track sketch via the Polyend Tracker and Ableton Live.
