Martha Wash is one of the greatest singers, ever! While she was rightfully credited for her work with Sylvester and Two Tons o' Fun. Her run of mainstream hits during the early 90s were shrouded in controversy because thinner singers/models lip synced to her vocals (Black Box, C&C Music Factory). Thankfully, that injustice came to light, a lawsuit ensued, from which she received acknowledgement and compensation for her work. I believe stemming from that lawsuit future artists were required to be credited for their work. She released a solo album of work after that which contains so many fantastic songs. 'Carry On' and 'Give It To You' are my favourites from it. I opted to mix the latter. Track is not being monetized.

Lockdown 006 comes from someone we've been following for a while now. Andrea's edits are championed by the wonderful Light Touches Records, the 4th edition of these edits came out in February of this year and is of the same extremely high quality of the first 3. He also had two sick edits out on the amazing Rain & Shine records in December last year.

Andrea has been providing us with amazing listening material throughout the lockdown with his Sunday Morning Jams sessions which you can find over on his mixcloud. He's already had the pleasure of opening up for Theo Parrish, he's a resident for Jazz:Re:Found Festival and Boogie Nights. Hopefully when we're able to party within a more familiar and safe surrounding you'll be able to see him at work. 

This mix is beautifully curated and mixed together perfectly, it's a special journey from start to finish featuring some of his unreleased edits. It's one that we'll have on repeat for a long time, be sure to check this out and keep everything coming out of Andrea's camp on your radar as it's always gold.

Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

In 2023 we've celebrated 10 years of Heist Recordings. The year showed a whole batch of releases by new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and by Dam Swindle themselves.
