Session Victim and Erobique join forces once again for a beautiful cover version of Mark- Almond's "The City",starring Jamie Lloyd's enticing vocals and featuring Linnart Ebel on rhythm guitar.

Ever since Hauke Freer stumbled over Mark- Almond's final studio album Other People's Rooms at Montreal record store Death Of Vinyl a few years ago, the pair would regularily finish DJ nights with this 1978 recording of their hit single "The City" - and since then, the idea of recording their own rendition had been tossed around frequently. Carsten "Erobique" Meyer was not the first but really the duo's only choice to see this through and well, just listen to the impeccable Rhodes/Clavinet combination he came up with.

However, it is Sydney's Jamie Lloyd who steals the show and takes the song into his realm, putting his very own stamp and character on this certified classic. Long time collaborator Linnart Ebel completes the band with his ever subtle rhythm guitar. The two, three, four, five man house, not house band branches out for all the right reasons and this is the result.

Fred Everything and Trevor Walker have been friends since the mid 90s, sharing the decks countless times in various venues in Canada including at Mercury Lounge in Ottawa where they both held a residency, weekly for Trevor and bi-yearly for Fred. They became known for their 4 decks and 2 mixers sessions. The friendship and mutual respect goes deep. Fred often cites Trevor as one his favorite DJs in the world. Known for his wide knowledge of music and his passion for playing seemlessly through various styles, always with mastery. They recently got together in the studio. First for a remix on Lazy Days (Coco “Cognac” Brown) and now for 2 EPs on Compost. The first one is E.S.M. (Earth, Sun, Moon) inspired by classic Deep Dubby House sound from the late 90s, and featuring a remix by Fred’s close friend and collaborator Atjazz, who turned this one out with his unique magic touch. The second EP will be out in 2022, more on an Afro tip, featuring DaLata singer/collaborator Diabel Cissokho, with an additional remix from Art Of Tones.

Orlando Voorn is a man who needs little introduction. He’s played a pivotal role in the development of the electronic music scene in the Netherlands, as well as in the USA where he now lives. With countless aliases, he has released everything from old school hiphop to sample heavy breaks, to banging Detroit techno to soulful house music. His recent outings as ‘Frequency’ on Clone, as well as his latest EP on our sublabel Transient Nature, are proof that even after 30+ years, the man is still very much on top of his game.

Heist Recordings was founded by Dam Swindle as a means to gain full control over their own releases, and to create a stage for likeminded musicians to showcase their music. From the first release on, Dam Swindle’s “Break up to make up” EP in summer 2013, Heist has been a go to label for proper underground house and electronic music. Now, nearly 40 releases and 5 compilations in, Heist has brought forward artists like Frits Wentink, Nebraska, Adesse Versions, Fouk, Kassian, Nachtbraker and Alma Negra and continues to search for new talent, with Lars & Maarten fully focused on the A&R side of the label. 

Up till 2016, remixes on the label have been solely done by other original Heist artists on the yearly “Round up EP”, where the remixer and remixee get connected by the luck of the draw and a limited edition double pack is put out. After that, Maarten and Lars decided it was time to add remixers to the EP’s as well, which saw interesting collaboration, expanded the label family with names like Matthew Herbert, Tom Noble, Pépé Bradock, Ge-ology and Byron the Aquarius. 

2023 we're celebrating 10 years of Heist Recordings. This year will show a whole batch of new artists like Byron the Aquarius, Amy Dabbs and Cinthie and Dam Swindle themselves.
