I’m so happy to share the first track from my upcoming album: „Überall“ is one of the krautier compositions, merging a pulsating bassline with an array of galloping synths and some dusty string samples from a sticky 70ies movie soundtrack. Torben Schultz contributed the bass part, bravely working his way through the track like a clockwork. @Treibgut’s @akustikhaack joined me with his MFB Tanzbär and @schimanski added his signature shaker and snare to the mix. Finally, Thomas von Pescatore did the mastering - on spot as always - and my buddies prjktr. built a wonderful video that makes for a perfect companion for this debut. Check out the video over here:

We are happy that @alban-endlos joins us for the first release on heiter bis wolkig. Three tracks serve as a teaser for Alban’s upcoming Album - accompanied by remixes from @powel, @ddoollpphh and @janhertz.

Don’t expect from-the-shelf-electronics here: Alban weaves a weird but beautiful blend of foley tools, saxophones, detuned pianos, analogue synths and pulsing beats. Add the organic touch of guitars and drums by friends he invited over to the studio and top it off with vocal recordings from his childhood.

The demo left us amazed - the EP now finally enters our living rooms to warm our feet in the winter and surely invade some dancefloors as well…

"You said" is actually the newest production on this EP and was developed live while jamming at Pauls flat in Berlin - accompanied by a lot of coffee, beer and vodka. We experimented with different approaches and there even was a recording with german vocals at some point. In the end this stripped down and simple version that you can hear today became the the final track. It was so much fun seeing Torben recording this bassline in one take and thus giving the track such organic feel!

The roots of this track lie somewhere between our first album „give me a frame“ and the follow up „pilots“. While jamming and experimenting with a lot of different sound sources, a cardboard chair became the instrument of choice for the main beat. Pesca laid some rough guitar phrases on top of that and started singing: his background in Grunge beautifully shimmers through in this one!

Robert Heel has been pushing visual music and concept-driven audio production for a long time. Traveling between live visuals, exhibitions with performances, art-prints and deep dubby Techno he found his own voice - distinct but unpredictable. With „Quantifizierung der Irrelevanz“ he releases a playful and rough piece of music, featuring jumpy chords, percussive noises and a confident kickdrum. As if the track itself wasn’t enough, Robert produced two videos full of odd humor to accompany the release and invited his friends (including himself) to add their very own interpretations.

Our good friend Neal Spa decided to throw together a pretty unusual mixture of musical genres for his entry in our mixtape series: He dug deep in his vinyl collection and ended up mixing four to the floor with drum’n bass - and that included tweaking the pitch-control to its limits. We were amazed how well the result sounds and how groovy breakbeats can be when they are played back at „minus 8“. Enjoy!

“So there was this track, sort of finished, and then I happened to find a box full of old tapes in the basement of my parents' home. One of these tapes was starring me as a 5-year-old boy, doing funny things in front of the microphone and reciting poems (actually it's still the same today, but I skip the poems…).
When I sampled the poem "Goldene Welt" and combined it with this track I couldn't believe it: Length, timing, meaning – it all just fitted perfectly.”

Hamburg’s fine impro-trio @treibgut blesses us with a wonderful EP this summer. After a brief hiatus the three boys have refined their trademark sound even more - sitting confidently somewhere between techno, house and melodic electronica. While Treibgut’s shows normally are almost ethereal snapshots due to their improvisational nature, we were able to convince them to hold down two of their finest results on tape. The outcome is a two-track EP - complemented by spot-on reinterpretations from two early supporters of our label: @Iorie and the duo @peng_peng. One remix convinces with a straight-forward club approach while the B-Side is a bit more mellow and relaxed. The whole package comes wrapped up as tasty vinyl with a beautiful artwork. Also: Did we mention the title track was composed on the peak of a liveshow at Sisyphos’ legendary Hammahalle…?

Rubber Tracks

An alumnus of the 2004 Academy in Rome, Jan Hertz rings in the new year with the release of his ‘Moj’ album. Spread out over 12 lovingly crafted tracks, the record brings together the German artist’s passion for collaboration, his knack for playfulness and his craftiness on keys. “Laup” was the first track that materialized for the project back in 2015. As the second track on ‘Moj,’ it sets the tone nicely for the album’s krautrock-indebted, arpeggiated soundscapes and evokes the feeling of sun rays breaking through the clouds on a cold winter morning.

Composer and sound designer Jan Hertz heralds the new year with a labour of love: an album that brings together friends and fellow musicians, as well as his own passion for music. Melancholic and sweet, sometimes weird and humorous, the diverse yet coherent collection of twelve tracks shows Jan’s far-flung inspirations: delicate drum programming melts with kraut-rock like arpeggios, while almost kitschy piano miniatures counter crackling breakbeats.

The album title „Moj“ hints at different things: you can follow its roots back to the Low German word for "good", the Finnish expression for "hello" or Slavic translations of "mine". This album similarly combines Jan’s very intimate and playful introverted compositions with the warmth of collaborations and friendly encounters.

heiter bis wolkig is a German label for electronic music. At least most of their releases make extensive use of synthesizers, computers and the like. While the founders want to stay open minded for genres, styles and their artists' neuroses, their distinctive character and taste will most likely be found in a lot of the music they promote. In the end, heiter bis wolkig was founded as an open-hearted playground for friends.
