Our No. 222 today comes from an artist who has been accompanying me musically more or less continuously for about 2 years. To overhear him is basically pretty really hard. Not only because of his high output and commitment, but especially because of the high quality that can be found in all his mixes. So is the case with ours.

We are talking about kośa who also runs the well-known label Kosa which preferably stands for experimental downtempo that can be classified somewhere between world music and slow deep house. As a solo artist Tarun is very successful on the road. Among other things, he has played at the well-known Berlin club Kater Blau several times.

His recorded mix begins like an ode to the Bronx of the 80s when hip hop played with oriental music elements. As the tape progresses, it becomes deeper and more driving, without losing its slow character. In the process, he reveals a wide range of subgenres...Towards the end, Tarun returns to the starting point, skillfully closing the circle. In his set, he provides equal amounts of release and tension. A perfect formula for an easy-going, danceable afterhour. Fasten your seatbelts...

Unsere Nr. 222 kommt heute von einem Künstler, der mich seit ungefähr 2 Jahren mehr oder weniger ununterbrochen musikalisch begleitet. Ihn zu überhören ist im Grund ziemlich wirklich schwer. Nicht nur auf Grund seines hohen Outputs und Engagement, sondern vor allem wegen der hohen Qualität, die sich in all seinen Mixen wiederfindet. So auch bei unserem. 

Die Rede ist von kośa der zudem das bekannte Label Kosa betreibt welches vorzugsweise für experimentellen Downtempo steht, der sich irgendwo zwischen Worldmusic und slowen Deep House einordnen lässt. Als Solokünstler ist Tarun überaus erfolgreich unterwegs. So bespielete er unter anderem den bekannten Berliner Club Kater Blau bereits mehrere Male.

Sein eingespielter Mix beginnt wie eine Ode an die Bronx der 80er als der Hip Hop mit orientalischen Musikelementen spielte. Im weiteren Verlauf wird das Tape immer deeper und treibender, ohne seinen slowen Charakter zur verlieren. Dabei offenbart er eine große Bandbreite von Untergenren…Gegen Ende kehrt Tarun wieder zum  Ausgangspunkt zurück und schließt somit gekonnt den Kreis. Close friends for many years, sharing the same passion for music, one ear for bass and the other for highs, complement each other. We love harmonies and the fusion of tracks. Electronic music has been with us for a long time, but it wasn't until May 2019 that we sat down at the controllers and gave our passion a platform to be fully lived out. After an epic one-week stay in Iceland, time had come to fly home.  Hekske, the little witch, gave a long farewell hug to her new Eldnorn friends, the Icelandic fire witches who had taught her the art to master extreme heat and cold, and many other witchy secrets.  The eldest Eldnorn witch gave her one precious present, a pouch with ash from the Kerið volcano in South-western Iceland, which she had collected after the powerful eruption they had witnessed a couple of days ago (see Witchtape #115).
After one last kiss to her Icelandic friends, she flew towards the east over the North Atlantic Ocean.  It was an uneventful flight, with only one short stopover on the Faroe Islands to collect her immaculately white dress which she had left behind during a hurricane while on the way to Iceland.  The return flight was a million times easier than the grueling slog through the rain and the gale force winds one week earlier (see Witchtape #103).  And after a pleasant and sunny flight to Flanders, the little witch touched down in the center glade of her home forest, where she was welcomed by Falke (the 9-year old witch apprentice) and Lalita (the Asian tree nymph), who were intrigued by the white Eldnorn dress the little witch was wearing, with its unique orange flame patterns.
After a refreshing bath in the nymph’s pond and a good night’s sleep, the little witch told many stories about the mythical Eldnorn witches to her friends, after which she took the pouch of volcanic ash and made a tour around the witch’s forest, while still wearing the white & orange Eldnorn dress.  The girl spread small amounts of ash at dozens of different places around the forest, where it will serve as fertilizer for the plants and the trees, but at the same time spreading the wholesome energy of the fire witches all over the forest.  And after completing the tour around the woods, the little witch returned to the middle, where she spread the last bits of volcanic ash around the little oak tree (which is only 3 feet high but destined to live for 1000 years and become the mother tree of the forest).  The next few minutes nothing happened, but then the little tree started to react by emitting a faint orange glow, which started to pulsate like a heartbeat.  This pulse slowly became stronger, and gradually spread around until the whole forest was resonating with this pulse … spreading the unique ‘ice & fire’ energy of the Eldnorn witches all over the forest …

It's the reflection of the vibrant soul behind the decks:  they are infusing the heart of the dance-floor with their love and life-force...and anyone who has been baptized by Narfux's beats and been embraced by her presence knows exactly how this love-shower feels like:  like warm rain in August, like cheeky fairy-spirits dancing inter-dimensionally, like green moss beckoning you into a cuddle-puddle of love and tenderness.
