"Ave Verum" is a reverent Sacred duet,   composed by Sir Karl Jenkins, this arrangement a "hail"  by Daniel Philippe, with Helen Coleman and Steve Beck.  This piece was the first recording undertaken after return of my voice after two years of vocal loss due to surgery for #thyroid #cancer.    Originally known as "Ave Verum Corpus", this is a short Eucharistic Hymn which dates back to the 14th Century, and has been attributed to Pope Innocent VI.   I am a Classical/Jazz and Blues singer, have rehabilitated my voice, and am helping others to do the same post surgery.   This, and other songs, are available on my Website. "Stormy Weather", composed by Harold Arlen in the 1930s for The Cotton Club, is a timeless classic from an era with a swag of attitude.  This bluesy standard was made famous by singers such as #LenaHorne, #BillieHoliday and #EllaFitzgerald.

Original new song, the music composed  to  "In Flanders Fields" , a  poem  by Canadian, John McCrae, written on the battlefields of World War I.  He penned the poem after noticing how quickly  Poppies grew around the graves of soldiers killed at Ypres, Passchendaele, Pozieres, The Somme -  to name but a few - in  the area collectively  known as the Flanders Fields.  My Grandfather, Driver Wilfred Coleman, 25th Battalion AIF, spent most of the war, (after Gallipoli) driving an eight horse team back and forth to the front lines, delivering ammuninition and supplies - and sadly, picking up the wounded and dead.  Tragically,  Lt Col John McCrae did not survive the war, but the symbol of the poppy and his beautiful rondeau  remind us always of the sacrifices made on those fields for our freedom.  In honour of their memory:  "In Flanders Fields" - recorded in Brisbane,  100 years after the Battle of Verdun, Feb 21, 1916.  Vocals: Helen Coleman. A Classical singer, and country girl, I love music and horses.  Opera, Classical, Contemporary Classical, and vintage Jazz Blues,  have always been at the heart of my performance career.   The romance songs of the 1930s and 1940s are among my favourites, and I sing them, for the most part, in the original keys.
