Drox collaborating with eLDee from Trybe Records. "Africa Girl"

In 1998, eLDee and his high school friend, “Kaboom” teamed up with “Freestyle”, and the group Trybesmen was born. Subsequently, eLDee founded his own independent label (Trybe Records) to support the group, and took the Nigerian music scene by storm with two hits in 1999; “Trybal Marks” and “Shake Bodi”. Trybesmen’s debut album “L.A.G. Style” was a massive hit and still a cult-classic. eLDee, as the head of Trybesmen and Trybe Records, re-engineered what has now become the music genre most call Afro-hip hop/Afro-pop or contemporary Nigerian music. With Trybesmen’s undeniably incredible blend of Afro beat, Reggae, Highlife and hip-hop, and over 78 sold-out shows in one year, it was no surprise that Trybesmen became a force to be reckoned with in Nigeria.

Trybe Records also created a platform for new talent that would help achieve the goal of placing African Hip Hop/African Pop on the international map. Trybe Records boasts of developing successful award-winning artists such as Sasha, 2Shots, olaDele, and Dr Sid.

eLDee came up with a collaboration of all the artists on the record label, named them “Da Trybe” and solidified Trybe Records as a force to be reckoned with in the Nigerian Music Industry with hits such as “Work it out” and “Oya” in 2002, and the album “BIG Picture” in 2005. Making a move to the United States in 2002, eLDee recorded a solo album titled “Long Time Coming” and followed up with “Return of the King” in 2006.

The girls hail from London and the Home Counties and have built up their strong musicianship and strong representation of women in rock through performances worldwide. This Top Talent Season 1 winner showcasing his spectacular vocal abilities. Sojay is an R&B artist from Obowo, Imo State. He grew up in Port Harcourt, Rivers state in a town called Rumuigbo and he is a graduate of Computer Science from the University of Port Harcourt.

Sojay lost his father at a young age and was raised by a strong mother who provided him the best of opportunities and a firm foundation that has helped nurture the rare talent he possesses. Sojay started singing in church decided to do music full time after recording an EP which had songs that caught the attention of many independent record labels. He is currently signed to Trybe Records and is looking to collaborate with artists from across the globe.

Helicopta records was founded in September 2011 It was a chance meeting of two urban DJ/Producers Drox and Graffitto at Nice air port in January 2011 that ultimately led to the founding of Helicopta records some ten months later. On the way to Cannes for the Midem music conference it became apparent that a transfer by Helicopter was a quick, exciting and cost effective way to arrive in style if four people could be persuaded to share the cost. Four people were found and the trip was made. Drox and Graffitto met up again in Sant Antoni and, after a week of early nights and careful consideration, decided they wanted to have their own label not only as a platform for their own productions but also as a home for like minded artists, DJ’s,producers and managers. Returning to the U.K. in September Drox contacted Chris (The Sarge) Sergeant and Nigel Swanston, who had been the other two passengers on the historic Helicopter ride and it soon became clear that a lot of common ground was shared. Sarge had signed Jasmin Kora to his management company and was working on writing and recording material with Jasmin and Nigel for an album project. Drox and Graffitto needed material to produce. It seemed a perfect match.
