This single is special. It is the first of a series of collaborations between Tupy’s founders Heliponto and XRS. There were many before us. And many more will come after. What will remain are the sounds recorded, ideas and feelings imprinted on them. Some ghosts from Black Gold Rich Village have whispered these melodies to us.

Someday they will come. An island is not real until the pirates come. We hope there is a DJ among them, mixing old with new, sweet with sour, bubbles with quotes, and, minimally, two letters of the alphabet. (Inspired on ”Divagações Sobre Ilhas” of Carlos Drummond de Andrade).

The result of an experiment taken place in Belo Horizonte, 2008. XRS and I setted up an improvised studio consisting of a Mac 8100 + 442 Protools running Logic 3, a loud speaker made of a paper box, chords made by elastic played the musician Alexei Michailowski, a turntable and a scratched record, two batucada people. The result was sequenced by myself Heliponto.
