Cosmic Tiger present the first in a series of various artist compilations designed to shine a light on far-flung musical scenes while raising money for good causes. Kicking things off close to home in our Asian base, 'Messages Volume One' welcomes a varied lineup of creators from disparate musical backgrounds – including revered masters of the craft alongside irresistibly emerging talent. The sounds may differ in style and tone, but what unites each of the artists involved is the sincerity of their respective approaches to making music, and the indefinable magic embedded in their sounds.
From Japan to Korea, Thailand to Indonesia, Singapore to Hong Kong: the far-reaching compilation takes in original compositions featuring blissful Balearic wonder, life-affirming disco, late-night house, seductive neo-soul, and a good deal more as it glides through the 
evolving skies of the vast Asian continent.
While shining a light on the effervescent talent that exists in Asia's growing underground community, we felt a strong desire to spread some positivity. We wanted to do what we could to help some of those whose lives have been thrown into turmoil by the bizarre times we're all currently living through. All profits generated from sales will be split between Bangkok Community Help Foundation and The Sweet Potato Project – charities based in Thailand and Indonesia respectively that are helping to support those who have been worst affected by pandemic enforced lockdowns. It's worth noting, too, that musicians and performing artists were among the first to see their 
incomes diminished by the worldwide closure of venues, festivals and events, and in many cases are among the last to be able to return to work. With that in mind, the generosity of the contributing artists here is even more profound, as each of them has seen their livelihoods dented by ongoing venue closures and performance restrictions. This is our attempt to pour some love into the world via music and collaboration. This is our message, and these are sounds plucked directly from the vibrant Asian underground.

Marma Boog reaches for the sixth gear on OTE010 laying down three no nonsense, mind melters. Marma Boog hits with an Italo mix of ‘Hypnotizing a Kookaburra’ to kicks things off. Proper hyperspace pumper business, synth hypnotism with that cosmic kookaburra in tow.

On the flip a dark percussive, tribal-tinged chugger in the form of the Mood Mix with a familiar vocal that sits all to sweetly in the midst of the psychedelic stomping.

Keeping it on a similar tip and rounding off the EP in style, ‘East of Canada’ powers on through - a downtempo, piano poised, acid-laden trip to expand your mind.

Jan Schulte aka Bufiman releases his drum rhythm versions from his latest Dekmantel LP ‘Albumsi'.

In his own words: “Hi, my name is Bufiman and I do drum music for world peace and dance music for frogs. I recently released a longplayer called ‘Albumsi' on Dekmantel. While doing the mix-downs for ‘Albumsi' I realized how much effort I had put in it and how it might even seem overproduced in comparison to other records of mine. This was the result of ‘Albumsi’ being in the first year after quitting all other jobs to focus completely on music. It was the first time I had a studio, some gear and time all at once, at the same moment. So during the mixing process I realized how carefully and loaded the drum tracks were, I even had unused leftover drum material… I also just found a Dutch record heavily inspired by the classic Jive Rhythm Trax with the name 'Mix Your Own Breaks - Construction in Music' with an accompanying text that inspired my idea to do some of my own rhythm trax versions: "The compositions on this LP only consist of rhythms and sound effects. They can be used as: a transition between two records, to be mixed as a break in between and for the production of jingles. Have a lot of fun with these breaks!" Or in Dutch, as originally printed on the record: VEEL MIX-PLEZIER MET DEZE BREAKS - Een multifunctionele LP voor Discjockeys, Thuismixers en geluids-amateurs.”

DKMNTL082 // Bufiman - Albumsi Rhythm Trax

Hell Yeah welcomes the Italian musical collective Aura Safari for a debut EP on the label.

The band, who are at the forefront of a new Italian fusion sound that blends jazz-funk, electronic and world sounds, is made up of acclaimed house devotee Nicholas Iammatteo, plus Alessandro Deledda, Lorenzo Lavoratori, Daniele Melloni and Andrea Moretti. They contributed a standout track to the Buena Onda - Balearic Beats compilation last year as well as releasing a full length LP on UK label Church to critical acclaim.

Opener 'Dreams of Music' is a lush, new age groove with rich musicality, wind instruments and live drums all glowing warmly as you roll into sundown. 'Oasis' then sinks into a reflective mood, with lazy drums and sensuous late night chords sounding like Roy Ayers all loved up and super stoned. The noodling keys really melt your heart before the excellent 'Slow Divers' pairs more majestic bass riffs with wet claps and splashing cymbals as a wandering lead drifts up to the heavens. It has a dubby swagger to it that is superbly subtle.

Closing out the EP 'Libra', is a heartwarming, slow motion, jazz-funk fusion packed with detail and life affirming synth playing.

These are gloriously heartfelt tracks that showcase this collective's supreme musical ability as well as their unquestionable understanding of jazz, funk and soul, past, present and future.
