Hell Yeah is delighted to be releasing a new album from South Wales' Secret Soul Society. Keep The Mystique is a 15-track collection of brand new curveball cuts built from lovingly sourced samples that arrives digitally and on a limited edition cassette that will follow in autumn.

The Secret Soul Society is Cal Gibson, who was one-half of Nottingham's deep house and downtempo outfit Neon Heights back in the 2000s. They served up plenty of low-key but classic sounds which Hell Yeah founder Marco has always had a real love. Since then, Gibson has released on Paper Wave Recordings and dropped an album on Slightly Transformed Recordings and co-founded Scruffy Soul Recordings while continuing to collect and play anything from the worlds of jazz, funk, Afro, beats, dub, soul and reggae. The Secret Soul Society digs into these same sound worlds and reworks them into new musical collages with a psychedelic edge, as proven by this new collection.

Yazz, inspite of her intentions has shown me that “Up” is the only way. Taylor hands me a cashie, full of those Garys both sides of The Park adore.

He holds my hand as we dance, maybe too tightly. I find a door, off the floor.

No Malcolm Tucker, but jeez times have changed. This is a castle, and not Halton Castle. There is glamour, blanquettes and lacking Roger On The Door. 

Then, again, a bassline, and the same and different smiley faces from that canal side. 

Just decades apart.

Marseille-based producer Grant returns to his self-released white label series with an ever more expansive EP of deep, rolling house.

After two  critically  acclaimed  albums  to  date,  the  vinyl  only  ‘The  Acrobat’  on  his  own  imprint  The  Lauren  Bacall  and  the  latest  ‘Cranks’  out  on  Lobster  Theremin  sublabel  Mörk,  both  becoming  highly  sought  after  works  and  becoming  modern  standouts  of  warm  deep  house. 

With a firm grasp for 80’s Chicago and Detroit House tased with 90’s deep house tropes, GRANT004 finds him on deepest ever form, with swirling luscious pads, snippet vocals and thudding percussion sinking us further down into the depths.

Second track of the release, Mediate, holds a more firm groove and tinkering lines of melodic percussion, shifting and swaying from the edges of a pink-lit, smoke-filled 5am club haze.
