This edit (originally created in 2008 for my dj sets) was supposed to be included on the recently released third Autonomous Africa 12". Unfortunately I didn't get permission to use it in time for that release but permission has now been given, so rather than wait for AA 004 in 2015 it is going to come out as a limited edition hand stamped 10" as soon as possible. Amadou & Mariam - Ce N'est Pas Bon (A JD Twitch edit)

Ever eclectic electronic outlet Hell Yeah is back with another carefully curated release this winter, and it’s a brand new and debut LP by Telespazio, a solo project by Italian DJ and producer Fabrizio Mammarella of Slow Motion’s fame.

For almost a decade now Fabrizio’s Slow Motion brand – both as a label and event - has been at the forefront of disco, future retro sounds and grooves. Fabrizio himself is also one third of Clap Rules and releases music on labels like Bear Funk, DFA, Kitsune, Tiny Sticks and across the course of eight tracks here he showcases a wide range of electronic sounds. 
Opening up the expansive LP is ‘Barrier’, a go-slow bit of intergalactic funk with bleepy melodies and steppy synths, whirring cosmic sounds and colour to spare. ‘In Motion’ then plays with grubby, dishevelled kicks and claps, spangled synths and curious patterns that are all underpinned by monstrous bass. 
‘Nuvolari’ is another bit of deep space delightfulness with blistered synths, circling shape ships and glowing, pixelated chords all loosely tied to a chugging disco beat. ‘Devices’ is a beatless bit of glassy ambient that conveys a real sense of motion from this world to the next and that moody sense of soundtracking continues into the second half of the album with the expansive, twinkling ‘Glideshot’, skyward synths and harmonic chords of ‘Rays’ and broken disco grooves of ‘LFO Ride’. Closer ‘Unstable’ then gets all trippy and otherworldly with dark undertones, kinetic synths and snippets of vocal. 
Overall this is a truly unique and idiosyncratic journey into a freaky sound world that comes wholly from deep inside the mid of Fabrizio Mammarella.

Telespazio - Barrier

Medlar, the alias of South London producer Ned Pegler, has spent over a decade quietly shaping the UK underground with a warm, sample-rich sound rooted in deep house, jazz, and disco. Emerging via Brighton’s drum & bass scene, he found his true voice on labels like Wolf Music, Delusions of Grandeur, and Full Pupp where tracks like “Terrell” and the 2013 LP Sleep revealed a deep, emotive producer with crate-digger instincts.

In 2025, Medlar expanded his sonic palette with Islands, an 10-track album fusing 80s fusion, ambient, afro rhythms, and live instrumentation. Collaborations with artists like Dele Sosimi, DeeVoeNay, and Finn Peters reflect a shift from sampling to organic arrangement, while maintaining his distinct warmth and groove.

Beyond the studio, Medlar is a passionate vinyl digger and eclectic DJ-his sets span jungle, italo, garage, and dub. With every release, he bridges eras and genres, reminding listeners that house music, at its best, is timeless and exploratory.

Slothboogie is regarded as a bit of an institution, the long running London based record label and party series has been responsible for releasing forward thinking music which has helped push a new wave of artists and dj’s in the pursuit of dancefloor enlightenment.

House music underpins a lot of what Slothboogie is and what they do.

Founded in 2010 as a blog, it quickly evolved in to something far greater and now the collective are widely regarded as selectors in their own right.

SlothBoogie is a vibrant cultural force—championing underground electronic music with a holistic approach that spans curation, release, performance, and community building.

There 15 year anniversary is accompanied by the release of a new compilation which they are celebrating with a launch party in London at Cafe 1001 this evening.

It feels quite surreal to say this, but Episode 03 of the Balearic London mix series is brought by none other than Italo house legend Don Carlos. Starting his DJ career in the late 70s, he is best known for his production debut 'Alone'. Widely known as the epitome of what dream house is, the track combines emotive piano chords, crisp percussion, and ethereal pads in what is beautifully floaty yet perfectly punchy perfection. Since then he's released more underground hits under his own name as well as his Montego Bay and Aquanauts monikers. He isn't just a legend of the 90s though, his releases in the recent years on Freerange Records, Utopia, Irma Records, and remixes on Wolf Music and more show that his music sounds as fresh now as ever.

This week, the Multi Culti label dropped their new comp, Sun Gaze II, a four-track ensemble of colourful, global club tracks. Our favourite here at Complex HQ, Moscoman's fuzzy foot-stomper "Se Acabo", sees the Berlin-via-Tel-Aviv producer concoct a rich melting pot of influences that seem to hint at just about every corner of the world. With its tropical percussion, cumbia-esque cadence and marching bass line, you could deploy this cut in any club in the world and expect a rapturous response from the crowd.

Sun Gaze II is the latest part of the six-part Sun Gaze & Moon Faze compilation. Sun Gaze II is released on Apr. 25, while the full compilation will be released on Jun. 21 as a limited edition box set.
