The American Advertising Federation CEO Steve Pacheco joins us this week on the Hello Frances Podcast. Steve shares his background and how he found himself as the leader of the nation’s oldest advertising trade association. With experience ranging from a small, local ad agency to nationally recognized brands, Steve has had an array of experiences in the industry and uses all he has learned throughout his tenure in his latest venture as CEO of AAF.

Ultramarathon runner Rich Torley joins Shantelle on the Hello Frances Podcast this week to share his experience preparing for and running the Marathon des Sables. This race, coined the toughest footrace on earth, is based in Morocco, and is a six-day trek of approximately 150 miles (roughly a marathon per day). Rich is originally from the UK but moved to Florida with his wife Danielle years ago. You may remember Danielle from our podcast episode a while back where she shared her experience with giving a TED Talk. 

Rich shares how he prepared to run the six-day race mentally and physically through training, resource preparation, and more. In addition to completing marathons, runners change living quarters daily with only the items carried on their back. Rich explains the importance of consistent mental grit throughout the process and doing what was needed to achieve the goal he set for himself. 

Shantelle and Rich discuss the obstacles Rich faced along the way, including getting thrown off course during his training because he compared himself to others. They examine the similarities between Rich’s experience as an ultramarathon runner and Shantelle’s as a business owner and how lessons learned from both situations can easily apply across the board, such as creating daily habits, showing up consistently, and more. Life coach, author, business owner, and entrepreneur Terri Fedonczak joins Shantelle on the Hello Frances Podcast this week to share her background, her experience with imposter syndrome, and how she has completely transformed her productivity by taking time for herself. 

As a life coach, Terri has extensive experience in working with others to overcome imposter syndrome. She suggests that we all find a solid support system to help us feel creative and empowered when doubt slips into our minds. In addition, she encourages entrepreneurs to trust their gut instincts and step into their power to help them build confidence as an individual and business owner.

R.W.L. - Mini Series. Week 1: "R" is for Reading

FRA team members Hillaree Durso, Janae Erickson, Kelsey Doar, Jodie Warner, and Rinn Garlanger chat about their generation on this week’s episode - the Millennial generation. Defined as those born between 1980-1994, this generation is known for being tech-savvy, family-oriented, and team-oriented in the workplace. 

Our millennial crew shares both positive and negative common stereotypes about their age group, including some they agree with and some they would argue. They discuss how to best appeal to their generation with marketing strategies and their viewpoint on their positions in the workplace. Lastly, they share the biggest technological advancements of their time, life-changing world events they’ve experienced, and more.

Nancy Bown joins Shantelle on this week’s episode of the Hello Frances podcast to talk about Dog-Harmony, a nonprofit organization she founded in 2015. As a dog trainer, Nancy saw many dogs being surrendered and began research to discover why this continued to happen. The missing component was education. After this discovery, she started Dog-Harmony to reduce the shelter dog population through ongoing humane education. 

Shantelle shares her personal experience of working with Nancy and Dog-Harmony to adopt her dog, Maggie. They discuss the importance of having ongoing support after adoption as the dog and family both adapt to their new environment. The characteristics of an Enneagram type two all seem great. Right? They are until these caring team members give of themselves day-in and day-out without taking care of themselves. Shantelle and Jodie discuss how managers of type twos can ensure that these selfless team members are taken care of and prioritizing their own needs in addition to the needs of those around them.

Type twos tend to be willing to help wherever they are needed even if their skills don’t particularly align. They are excellent at anticipating problems and finding appropriate solutions.
