Opening the year in style, Agnosia Black welcomes label boss Choopie back for a new EP. With a career that spans the better part of three decades Israeli artist Choopie is widely regarded as one of his country's premiere electronic music talents. Releases via Bedrock and Yoshitoshi laid the groundwork for what has been a storied career, one which has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years. Choopie's current production output often finds a perfect balance between progressive and organic house, an amalgamation of sound which has carried to him recent projects for 3rd Avenue, Mango Alley and Sol Selectas. Now, getting 2023 underway on a strong note, Choopie returns to his comfortable home of Agnosia Black with 'Berez'.

Much lauded for his groove-centric sounds, Choopie continues to explore that narrative on the title selection 'Berez'. Wrapped within a fluid rhythmic shell are punchy beats, pulsating basslines and a myriad of tantalizing effects. The Israelis storyboarding takes hold as a mystical tonal theme rises, playing off the groove's swing heavy rhythms, eventually accented by deconstructed vocals, which ultimately push the narrative to an otherworldly finale. For the less vocally inclined the Original Mix operates as a dub, coming equally correct for the dance floor as well.

The companion piece 'Delusion' continues the progressive tone set by its predecessor and lands with an equally impressive display of craftsmanship. Possessing a dramatic undercurrent, Choopie works hypnotizing percussion and percolating effects over chugging grooves and buoyant beats, creating waves of ultrasonic energy across the first act. Its thrilling pulse builds during a prophetic break, where cinematic pads and wavy arps converge, perfectly setting up a thunderous drop as the main arp steals the air for a colourful final act. A sure-fire dancefloor burner from Choopie, which gets the year off to a great start for the much-lauded artist. Highly recommended.

Emerging from the rich underground scene of Rotterdam, the city where Manual Music originated from, we're proud to welcome JESSIN on board for his label debut.

'I Want It' is one of those unique tracks that will stay with you after you've heard it only once. The main melody theme sounds rough and almost metallic, but built on a layer of warm atmospheric pads and synths it's that contrast that makes his song stand out.

Another fast emerging talent hailing from Rotterdam is Susan Right. A regular at well respected events such as Pleinvrees and Komm Schon Alter, this experienced DJ is making waves with her productions as well nowadays, and her remix for 'I Want It' shows exactly why.

The second remix is done by French duo Weltmusik who are known for their releases on labels such as Purified, Faites Leur Des Disques and Pavillonn. They made their Manual debut last December when they released their track 'Deep Waters' on the Manualism XVII album and now we are happy to welcome their rework for 'I Want It' on our label.
