Recomposition of field recordings made in the city of Antwerp (Belgium). The rich, spectral harmony is created with samples from glasses and plates on terraces. In addition to this, I've used car sounds, talking tourists and metro jingles.

Recompositie van field recordings die ik nam in Antwerpen. De rijke, spectrale harmonie werd afgeleid van samples van glazen en borden op terrassen. Daarnaast gebruikte ik ook autogeluiden, pratende toeristen en metro-jingles.

Environmental soundscape of one of Brussels most characteristic bars, café Belga, in the Flagey building. Flagey, today mainly a concert hall, was designed in 1933 for the Belgian broadcasting corporation (NIR), who stayed there untill the seventies.

Omgevingssoundscape van één van Brussels meest karakteristieke café's, Belga, in het Flagey-gebouw. Flagey, vandaag voornamelijk een concertzaal, werd ontworpen in 1933 voor de toenmalige Belgische omroep (NIR), die er verbleven tot in de jaren zeventig.

This is the fifth part of 'BXL :: Recomposed', a five part cycle in which I reorganize the environmental sounds of five different quarters in central Brussels (nicknamed 'the pentagon'). This collage is made with recordings made in the Kanal-quarter.

A distorted sample of a breakbeat on the radio, recorded while driving my car (I believe it was 'Headhunter' of the Belgian EBM-band Front 242). The harmonic bass derives from meta-recordings in my home studio.

Een krakende sample van een breakbeat op de radio, opgenomen tijdens het rijden van mijn auto (ik geloof dat het 'Headunter' was van de Belgische EBM-groep Front 242). De harmonische bas komt van meta-opnames in mijn home studio.

2013 :: Recomposed is a field recording/collage project in 365 parts. Armed with a lo-fi voice recorder, I record for one year the sounds of my daily surroundings, in order to reorganize them in new entities. No soundclips or oscillators were used; every single sound is taken from real life and recomposed the very same day as I record them. In a way, I rewrite a part of my life in music.

2013 :: Recomposed is een field recording/collage project in 365 delen. Gewapend met een lo-fi dictafoon neem ik een jaar lang klanken uit mijn dagdagelijkse omgeving op, om ze vervolgens aan elkaar te lijmen tot nieuwe gehelen. Er werd geen enkele soundclip of oscillator gebruikt; elke klank is uit het leven gegrepen en werd op dezelfde dag herschreven als ik ze opneem. Ik herschrijf een deel van mijn leven in muziek, als het ware.
