I think I subconsciously went into making this song with a childlike sensibility, almost to just play around on different instruments and not really care about structure and all of them things. Because of that, NEONE was perfect for the track as he genuinely is a one of a kind with his artistry but also hilarious. So it was a snug fit. I love the way it just flows in the same sense it did creatively when we was making it. The pure essence of joy is still there.

This was the first thing that came out when me and Quinn jumped in the studio. I jumped on the vocoder, Quinn took on the synth and we just flowed so naturally into something that has became my favourite piece of music to date. It makes me feel whole. It makes me feel so content. Teary-eyed at times. It represents the power of truth, and forever grateful to everyone who contributed to this song <3

For months, I spent endless hours retreated away in the studio, working with good people to craft and shape a piece which had no definite outcome to start with.

Music, when made for the right purpose, acts as a therapist for me. Leisure Trip has been just that. So thank you to all who contributed their gifts to weave together this collaborative project. I genuinely hope this music can serve you in a similar manner. Or simply just to cotch and crank.

'Hemai is a London-based Producer-Artist + Multi-Instrumentalist originally from Birmingham, blending alternative electronics with influences from downtempo, jazz, soul, folk + IDM. He grew up around jazz culture, taking influence from an array of Japanese + Brazilian Jazz + Broken-Beat artists.

He has released three projects so far—Eyes, Closed EP (2019, Independent), Strange Beauty (2021, Tru Thoughts), and Leisure Trip EP (2022, College Music)—alongside instrumental versions + 10 official remixes + exclusive tracks for artists like Oscar Jerome + Quinn Oulton + more.

As a live performer, with his trio consisting of his brother Sam Hemus on drums + artist FiFi Robo on vocals, he’s played on stages across Latitude, Lost Village, Mostly Jazz, The Jazz Cafe + more, while hosting a year-long improvisational residency at Hootananny Brixton featuring guest appearances from friends within the UK's jazz scene. As a DJ, he’s brought his eclectic fusion of broken-beat, downtempo +  jazz/funk tinged house to listening bars + venues across the UK + Europe, including Spiritland London/Portugal, Tate Modern, Supermax to name a few.'
