The manticore had hoped never to have to move with the times, they had their ways, the rest of the world had another rule book. Now, on the ground, they had to dig deep, keep moving and join as one with the leaves and trees that surrounded them. They would escape from this mess, it would simply take time. 

Machete Savane releases on Not An Animal making up the labels fourth release. He is remixed by the talent that is Jonny Nash who is previously known for his music on Melody As Truth and the Japanese label Snaker.

About the mix

I’ve been thinking about a concept for a mix titled “As the city sleeps” for some time. Soundtracking one of my favourite times of day, between 4-5am, the witching hour, when you fall in love, spend time getting to know the things about your friends you never knew and when towns and cities feel like your own.
When I was asked to contribute an hour of music to the inaugural “Monolithic Installation" (more info below), an immersive light installation in Bristol at Motion this summer it was the perfect catalyst to finally record the mix. I have gone back in and worked on it since and am happy to share it with you now.

DC Promo Tracks #239: Max Essa "Han Zon Roc (Midori Coup)"

Berlin-based producer Gallo is at the heart of the nu-balearic scene, and after hearing his excellent pair of EPs this year, we had to tap him up for our Monday mix series.

Today, Gallo presents his Tropical Hinterhof Mix, the name taken from an ongoing remix series, represented here by his take on 'Find Another Breeze' by J-Walk. Having lived on the ground floor of a dark, cold Neukölln backyard for the last six years, Gallo emphasises his "need to recreate a tropical environment... for music making", hence the name.

The mix opens with a pair of Gallo originals - the title track from his 'Sverna' EP which came out last month via Hell Yeah Recordings, and another from his forthcoming release on Clandestino. Loads of other goodness in there from the likes of Khotin and Jansen Jardin.
