supercollider

"leviathan" embodies the sonic world that one might hear in a littoral cave. The work was inspired by An Uaimh Bhinn, a cave on the Scottish coast famous for its unique harmonic resonances. The reverb used in the piece is modeled on the impulse response of a cavern; the vases serve as harmonic resonators through which many sounds are processed live, including the swell of ocean waves and the bass clarinet. The vases filter these sounds to bring out certain predictable pitches, which are then harmonized by the bass clarinet. The long, winding bass clarinet melody is the leviathan slinking through the cavernous electronic soundscape.

Around noon today (2024, July 21), I asked joerxx (https://soundcloud.com/joerxworx ; please take a tour on his page) if he would like to play saxophone on the basis of an old song of mine that I was rearranging  without particular satisfaction. He agreed, and in a few hours he and his sax did a great job.

Street Groove

i am very much fascinated by the Tibetan culture, where a special kind of Buddhism has developed in  the Tibetan highlands. Animistic demons were mixed with buddhistic figures, as Mahakala, who is a dark demon, protecting buddhistic ideas and helping to overcome obstacles. 
Mahākāla has four arms, three eyes and is of the brilliance of 10 million black fires of dissolution, dwells in the midst of eight cremation grounds. He is adorned with eight human skulls, seated on five corpses, holds a trident, a drum, a sword, and a scythe in his hands.
