RIOT FOLK man, solo and band
HENSHAW has spent a good deal of the last few years knocking lumps out of his guitar and singing passionately about life and his own experiences. He tours relentlessly across the UK, Europe and has played as far afield as the USA, Canada, China and Taiwan. 

 

Most recently part of the Xtra Mile Recordings / Nick Alexander Music Trust PET NEEDS Tour, Henshaw is preparing to release his NEW ALBUM in May 2022 called "NOBODY CARES, WORK HARDER" and a busy year with appearances at the incredible REBELLION Festival, Hear for the Music and Ay Up Mi Duck festivals and a host of other shows.

 

NOBODY CARES, WORK HARDER is a follow up to the hugely acclaimed FIVE COMPASS LIGHTHOUSE which was released in 2019 

 

Early 2020 saw Paul team up with Dan Booth from FEROCIOUS DOG to play a short run of intimate duet gigs that was hugely popular and received universally positive feedback. The pair also released "REVISIT" a duet album consisting of 10 Henshaw penned songs. They celebrated the end of lockdown with a SOLD OUT show in Feb 2022. 

 

He's supported Mark Chadwick (Levellers), Newton Faulkner, Tony Wright (Terrorvision), Gary Stringer (Reef), Ferocious Dog and since lockdown has sold out shows in Nottingham, Blackpool, Cambridge, Shrewsbury and elsewhere.

Another folk-esque set this time with a more rocky, punky edge and sounding uncannily like Frank Turner. Henshaw owned the stage with a confidence that screams “I’ve been doing this for years”. Another easy listen that made you want to get up at dance. Lots of interaction with the crowd and even a little crowd participation which I always enjoy. Highlight of the set was a particularly fun song recounting when he took his gran to an Iron Maiden gig. If you’re a fan of Frank Turner I’m sure you’re going to enjoy Henshaw I know I did!

So the CD review is done and what a classy encounter it has been.  The crew apply themselves with thought and care and pour out many acoustic aromas to get your curious hooter around.  From a punk point of view this may be too mild, too clean cut and too gentle for some - personally it only proves there are some right silly people about with no sense of variation and, may I add, taste!
