The words 'No Entry' always seemed to have the adverse effect. For as long as they'd inhabited this space, those words had been emblazoned over the cellar. No one dared ask what lay beyond the padlocked door, though they'd come close on several occasions, but they couldn't quite get the words out. Some said they'd heard muffled screams coming from beneath the floorboards, others swore they'd seen people come and go in the dead of night, but these were all rumours... What really happened down in the basement nobody knew. 

Kahter returns to Basilica for his first solo release since contributing a track to the label's inaugural VA compilation a few years back. With EPs under his belt on Circular Jaw, Manuka and Swamp 81, Kahter now takes care of Basilica's fourth release, building on his exploration into heavy bass frequencies. Over the four tracks on Polaris, he shares the more hard-hitting side of his production, which also includes a collaboration with Infinite Machine producer Yilan that matches polyrhythmic drums with crisp percussion and driving subs.

Collaborating with both established Chicago footwork legends such as DJ Manny & EQ Why, as well as emerging underground producers from Munich to Albuquerque, Brick Sweat Records have curated a Chicago-inspired tracklist for their Manchester-based label.

DJ Ends, hailing from Munich, brings innovation to the mix with "Beastie Balls," incorporating distinctive basketball-inspired samples which add a creative dimension to the track.

*PREMIERE* DJ Ends - Beastie Balls (Brick Sweat Records)

On Escape from the Club, @alecpace makes his return to All Centre, following up his Absolute Pressure EP from 2019 with four wonky, breakneck techno cuts.

Opener Linea kicks off proceedings with a buoyant approach to electro. Encouraging shouts of “come on” are filtered through disorienting FX, usher in sliding synth lines. As the track progresses, the frenzied synths increase in intensity before giving way to a skeletal drum beat.

On the second track Drowning, throbbing kick drums pair with skizzed-out hi-hats. The track’s wonky, rolling groove builds up towards a propelling synthetic percussion onslaught with unique sound design to boot.

The title track increases the intensity with skewed acidic pronouncements leading into a lolloping 168bpm beat, embellished with Pace’s characteristic vocal sample disfigurations.

Finally the EP settles on its most frenetic excursion, False Claims. Hiking the BPM up to 148, high velocity drums which nod to UK Funky guide the listener towards ecstatic fervor that is hinted at throughout the proceeding tracks.
