Front de Cadeaux was born in Bruxelles when roman Dj Hugo Sanchez met a Italo/Belgian guy called Dj Athome. The first touch was in the middle of a sauna party for big hairy men, hot and wet. Dirty sex and sweat dreams were just the click. They soon discovered that their music universe were created to become one. Both in love with the green psychedelia and both disappointed by the gay clubbing scene where people dance if only the bpm is at a very high and stupid speed level.

After having dirty sex, they spent days listening and sampling vinyls played at the wrong speed, discovering and enjoying the sexy power of the supreme “rallentamento”. Front de Cadeaux, a name that will leave Belgian’s fan of the band Front 242 astonished, confused and upset, started to create their own musical experiments that impressed Hugo Sanchez’s mate Rodion (his brother in the Alien Alien project), who put his poetic and supreme production touch on it.
Fabrizio Mammarella joined us after listening this manifesto called Le Pédé BPM. His energy was exactly what we needed to give you more acid.

We don't care of the BPM phags, we just want a world where the body and music makes love slowly all night long and we will fight a war to make it happen!

“I Need Rest EP" lays the foundations of the project from Black Mental which oscillates between Cold Wave and Dark Pop.
It emerges a certain contemporary melancholy, a dancing and haunting vibe, a modest nostalgia for the passing of time.

To complete the EP, French heroin Mila Dietrich and Argentinian based in Berlin Skelesys (@skelesys) turn the original tracks into a sleazy and romantic dancefloor bombs.

IN BRIEF:

Jonjo has been resident at the iconic Trash and Durr, before starting his own influential night, Hot Boy Dancing Spot, as well as playing in Barcelona, Berlin, New York and Tokyo, and on the Kraftwerk tour closing party at London’s Tate Modern Turbine Hall last year. A curator of the Ace Hotel soundtrack in London, Jonjo released official remixes of Crystal Fighters, Is Tropical and Xinobi but this is his first solo track.

‘If You Break It’ is a tumultuous bit of deep dark disco, with raw claps and nice chugging 
arpeggiated synth lines. The bassline, too, is rugged, and there’s plenty of razzle dazzle and colour in the melodies Jonjo lays down. After a tense first half, robo-vocals and soulful synths break out and elevate the track to another level entirely. It’s a standout track with which to make your debut and it will truly captivate dancefloors. 
As well as an instrumental version, remixing the original is Mexican Bufi, who has popped up on labels like this one with his own great solo work as well as on Kitsune, Electrique Music and Tigers on a Leash. His version of the fantastic original is just as compelling despite being paired down to an even deeper, richer groove. His synths and melodies are even more skyward, trippy and psychedelic and it makes for a fine alternative version.

Alors que les victoires de la musique viennent de révéler des premiers noms et que, comme chaque année, on s’interroge sur la pertinence d’une cérémonie qui reste avant tout une émission de télévision, on se prend à rêver de prix qui viendraient récompenser la scène indépendante et émergente. On pourrait par exemple imaginer une catégorie du meilleur songwriter de l’année, et si j’avais mon mot à dire, je mettrais un certain David Shaw dans les nommés, et je pèserais de tout mon poids pour qu’il l’emporte.

Rembobinons un peu. David Shaw est un musicien franco-britannique qui a grandi à Manchester avant de s’installer à Paris. On l’a vu aux platines du Pulp sous le nom de Siskid, jouer avec Blackstrobe, Jennifer Cardini, Vitalic ou Dombrance au sein de DBFC. Mais c’est avec son beat que le musicien est revenu l’automne dernier avec la parution de Love Songs With a Kick vol. 2 & 3. Deux albums de David Shaw And The Beat sorti coup sur coup à une semaine d’intervalle. Deux albums qui ont bien failli ne jamais voir le jour car le volume 1 était sorti en mars 2020 et la release party programmée le soir où Emmanuel Macron a fermé les écoles pour tenter de contenir l’épidémie de Covid19.

David Shaw And The Beat c’est un guitariste qui aime les synthés, un producteur qui aime le rock, un DJ qui aime la new wave. On retrouve tout ça dans Loves Songs With A Kick vol. 2 & 3, et aussi une bonne dose de cul et un doigt d’humour grinçant. Et on se dit, que, décidément, on ne veut plus jamais entendre de chansons d’amour sans kick. Ça tombe bien, aujourd’hui David Shaw And The Beat est l’invité de Place des Fêtes, et un plaisir n’arrivant jamais seul, il est venu avec Simon, ses guitares et leurs machines pour une session live exclusive avant son passage sur la scène de Petit Bain le 20 mars prochain.
