Undoubtedly a runner for the feel-good mix of the summer, we bounce between hazy vocal house, chunky garage cuts and irreverent, deranged pop remixes synonymous with PC Music and the Nightcore scene, to which Surati has been a long-time contributor; having made a name for herself with a string of nightcore edits, mashups and playing parties for Bangface, UMRU and GFOTY.

@qqbabygirl is emblematic of a new wave of Hong Kong’s underground. Her sound trades in the commercial slickness that the city thrives on, but doesn’t shy away from confronting the darker side. She adopts signifiers of the E-Girl aesthetic: cute intonations & anime catchphrases, whilst still being underpinned by a nihilist tension - one that acknowledges the racialized gaze that such aesthetics trades on. QQBBG’s music is sweet until it kills you.

@kelvin-tttt is an internet raised artist based in Hong Kong, he is an experimental club music DJ & producer. During his career he has performed in remarkable locations such as the legendary Berlin club Berghain for CTM festival. As a musician, Kelvin creates the universal sedimentation to convey a message, delivering impactful sonic experiences.

Redline Legends is our celebration of the raw, Hi-NRG electronic club mutations native to East & South-East Asia: Funkot to Manyao, Budots to Vinahouse. This a Full Moon Party, but the Moon stands for Moonshine.

Drawing influence from Indonesia’s Funkot, Vietnam’s Vinahouse, Filipino Budots, Malaysia’s and Singapore’s Manyao & more - these are the sounds of Jakarta curbside Mobile Legends sessions, Kuala Lumpur traffic jams, Taipei Temple Raves and 5AM Banh Mi stands in Saigon. All part of the same tapestry - breakneck BPMs, maximalist palettes - and fun as hell.

These sounds are incubated in red light districts, tourist traps and internet cafes. Often overlooked as too lo-fi or unsophisticated by international club scenes, these genres have had space and time to mutate into distinct forms, pulling their DNA from everywhere. You can hear audio artefacts from Wigan Pier Hardstyle, Lethal Bizzle Pow! samples and Melbourne Bounce melodies. Redline Legends is our mission to reclaim these sounds - to showcase them in their pure emotional glory.

From February 25th to 28th, 2016, RBMA Bass Camp touched down in Santiago de Chile, bringing together 16 hand-picked participants from Latin America for a string of studio sessions, workshops and lectures at the NAVE cultural center. Among the international cast of participants were Chilean representatives Imaabs — member of the rising N.A.A.F.I collective currently making waves across the globe — cello virtuosa Felicia Morales, and singer and multi-instrumentalist Lia Nadja. We’re excited to unveil the result of their Bass Camp collaboration here for the first time.

“Extravío” bristles with the relentless, belligerent energy that the N.A.A.F.I name has come embody. Imaabs’ crashing, pneumatic soundscapes find an intriguing match in the portentous combination of Nadja’s vocals and Morales’ cello — making for a blazing mixture that could pass either as battle song or as requiem.

The N.A.A.F.I collective squares off with likeminded global label NON on May 20th as part of Red Bull Music Academy Festival New York 2016:
