Luca Cataldo (Ka:lu) is a multimedia artist that focuses his works on audiovisual installation, big projections, vjing, music production and djing. 


His journey into music starts at age 15 when he got the famous technics 1200; in 1999 he moves in Rome where he enters the Drum and Bass underground scene, getting involved in the italian bass culture for years jumping for a dj to a vj consolle; during this time he also keep exploring audiovisuals languages and electronic music production having the chance to perform in many parties, festivals and events in Italy and at international level too (Holland, Germany, Spain, Canaries, England, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Norway and Iran).

Early days, moving from the city to the green hills in the center Italy, after some years of being off from music, he returns back on djing and production looking for different sounds such as deep techno, dubtech, slowtech, ethno, tropical, meditative, multicultural. In the last 2 years he self-releases 2 Ep “LFO - Learning By Observation” and “Deep Winter” plus more others singles and edits like “Breath Out feat. Alan Watts” getting good feedbacks from influential producers of the international scene.

Through his arts, as in music, he always try to express the believe into sounds as universal language, a  way to get in meditation, a tool to understand where we are coming from, where we are, where we are going. Any of his creation always has a story behind that aims to deliver aesthetic journeys providing an immersive experiences for heterogeneous audiences.

Their first release will be the ultra relaxed Tropical Island E.P. by secret live act/band Fuel Moon with an Oliver Klostermann Remix on the B-side.

Prepare 4 two lazy late-summer-after-season-festival bass line
driven tracks. A-side track „Tropical Island“ is built in the likes of New York No Wave Pioneer ESG vs. early 1980s balearic synth wave west-german slow disco á la colognes Gina X gone full on backboard yacht rock. Classic fat original analog cliché TR-808 kick drums meet underrated german 1970s drum machine Hohner Rhythm 80 solo entertainer-grooves meet the classic SH 101 acid bling an ultradeep Polysix lead pop synth line as well as the molto moody voices straight outta Fuel Moon’s tried out Neumann U47. Pure a-d-a, drop-it-gal magic.

The B-side on their Melos Disc Echo approach comes as a very
tripptycal, almost naiv stubborn, hard to recognize Dub-Breakbeat-
Madchester-Happy Monday-Rave cover of Motown classic late 1970s tune „Love Hangover“ and a kinda nu style acidhouse stealdrum
reminiscence synth remix."

This EP is a blend of comedy and slice-of-life fiction, focusing on lighthearted, humorous plot lines centered on romantic ideas, such as how true love is able to surmount most obstacles. The remixers are young, likeable, and seemingly meant for each other. After being kept apart by some complicating circumstance (e.g., class differences, parental interference, a previous girlfriend or boyfriend), they have finally surmounted all obstacles and are reunited in this EP and deliver a fairy-tale-style happy ending.
