Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing incredible and amazing artists from around the world. For the 51st edition, we bring you a mix from Drukmo Gyal.

Drukmo Gyal was born in the northeastern part of Tibet into a Tibetan Yogi family, where mantra and meditation were introduced from a young age. With support from a local Tibetian yogic community, She began singing publically in 2008 and since then she has gone on to travel to more than 30 countries, released multiple albums and engaged in concerts, public talks, workshops and courses on healing mantras, yoga and meditation as well as Tibetan external therapies and traditional medicine. We are extremely honoured for her to be able to join HER Transmission and create this mix for the series.

Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 79th edition, we bring you a mix from Stev Zar.

Stev Zar’s odus operandi is to explore the sonic realms of club music throughout fast-paced genre shifting sets. Via invoking cultural, colourful, chaotic and queer sound through mixing, her body of work is focused on uplifting trans bodies through nightlife and performance. 

Stev Zar also curates parties within the Naarm scene as Umami. Having been active in the scene since 2017, she has performed alongside the likes of Junglepussy, UNiiQU3, Leonce, Dinamarca and Tygapaw and also has operated at Melbourne Music Week, Laneway, Redbull Music Festival, FBi Radio and Triple J.

Her sound includes body-euphoric stylings of percussive drums, ballroom, experimental electro, south side rap, classic acapellas and cinematic scores. Stev’s mantra is to overcome the limit of genre, to highlight appreciation for the godly craft that is music, and to challenge her audience with an atmospheric set that touches your soul.

Schacke is a Danish Producer and DJ with hits and releases across numerous labels such as Kulør, Posh Isolation, Intrepid Skin, KAOS | OAKS and Instruments of Discipline as well as a resident at https://soundcloud.com/user-449290468  & @fastforwardproductions. Having produced electronic music over the last 8 years, Schacke’s sound has shifted between Noise, Experimental, Ambient, Techno and everything in the crevices between.

AUDIORIOT is a party label co-founded with artist YUEN HSIEN. Her galvanizing sets, known for creating collective transcendence through powerful sonic immersion, have featured on globally renowned music broadcasting platforms NTS and Rinse FM, and in her six-year residency at local cult underground queer night Le Fag. In 2021, she was awarded Best Electronic Act at the Music Victoria Awards. Naarm / Melbourne-based DJ, producer and singer, Dirty Versachi is an alien creature assimilating on their new planet by channelling feelings of isolation into innovative new art. Teaming up with co-producer Andrew Huhtanen McEwan (Huntly), mixing engineer Tim Watt (MUTO, Golden Features) and mastering engineer Klaus Hill (PNAU, Ministry Of Sound) to sculpt the DirtyVersachi sound. 

Although they are the new kid on the block, since their launch in May 2021, they have made waves within the Australian music industry achieving support from triple j, MTV Upload and Spotify editorial playlists (Just chill, New Dance Beats, New Music Friday, Fresh Finds, Sunday Sessions, to name a few). 

They have also achieved media support from KALTBLUT, Stoney Roads, Pilerats, To Be magazine, Life Without Andy, Like Velvet, Acid Stag and Musicfeeds. Dirty Versachiʼs live performances are an enigmatic experience, as they perform as an alien drag queen who embodies superstar energy. 

Their set is a combination of DJing, singing live and choreographed movements with backup dancers. In March 2021 Dirty Versachi had 4 performances at Mardi Gras which included two Heaps Gay parties, a performance at The Bearded Tit and an appearance at Barbaʼs club night. 

They are also lined up to DJ and perform at SummercampFestival in November 2022 (opening for Years & Years, The Veronicas, and Cub Sport). By owning their fem, non-binary energy, they are working to inspire a shift in the music industry to celebrate and support queer artists. 

They believe in using the power of fantasy and self-expression to create healing and bring people together as a community.

Under the alias of Jesus Slayer, Aaliyah Salem has made significant headway in Naarm’s electronic scene in just over a year. Drawing on her roots as a member of the Lebanese-Fijian diaspora, her sound varies not unsimilar to the vastly differing music of her youth.

Reminiscent of the airy quality of early Grimes, Yaeji and SASSY009, Merry’s music is a mesmerising fusion of late-night dancefloor beats and evocative and ethereal melodies. Her tracks are trilingual – transitioning effortlessly between three tongues, with each language revealing a different facet of her personality - calmness in English, directness in Cantonese and poetic nuances in Mandarin.

First making her mark with debut album Genesis, an introspective exploration of eclectic ‘80s pop and throbbing house beats, her latest single showcases her evolution, drawing from her own experiences of personal growth during lockdown and exploring themes of identity, dislocation and belonging.

HER 他 Transmission 172: mai-kah

Amidst lockdowns and home isolations, we at HER 他 really wanted to keep the party alive (and responsible) while supporting and promoting great artists from around the world. As a result, we have today launched HER 他 Transmission. HER 他 Transmission will be a series of Mixtapes and Live recordings released weekly by artists who we love and inspire us.  

We are excited today to share with you the very first guest mix of our series, A powerful and emotion mixtape by DJ, producer and trans-LGBTQIA + activist Miriam Alegria, better known as @Wantonwitch.   Wanton Witch was born and raised in a small town in Borneo in the east of Malaysia. At the age of 19, she moved to Bangkok to begin her journey in the music world. Since arriving in Bangkok she has made waves in the local and international electronic music scene with her highly emotional, story-telling approach to sound and performance. Wonton Witch is also the co-founder of the queer dedicated Bangkok collective ‘Non Non Non’ and hardcore rave project ‘ELED’.   We met Wonton witch on an Asian tour in Bangkok where her collective, Non Non Non helped us in putting on what was said to be Bangkok's very first All-Female/ LGBTQIA + techno event. We were blown away by her DJ set, compassion and dedication to her art and what she believes in. 

We are very grateful to be able to launch our series with such a strong and upcoming artist.

Up next, our second installment of the HER transmissions is our first live recording of the series. 

@hex-tape B2B @debris-facility @hermusicequality HER他 GET READY TO DANCE HARD - 13 Hour SPEED Rave.   This mix takes us back to our Melbourne Launch party at Crazy Arms on March 9th, 2020. 

 A time before the lockdown. A time when we were able to go out, stand close to one another and party and dance together in real life, not just via a web stream in our own homes. 

The pair who dreamed up this insane mix are Narrm/ Melbourne artists Hextape and Debris Facility. 

Hextape is the solo dance project of Bridget Chappell. Through this project, Hextape explores rave nostalgia as speculative fiction, spanning across the hardcore genre from Jungle, gabber, techno and breakbeat. 2019 saw Hextape release her ‘2 Fast 2 Furious’ EP through Melbourne label Anterograde.   Joining Hextape on this mix is Debris Facility. Debris Facility is a parasitic Body Corporate known for biting through sonic data in search of waste renewal. Writhing ear-worms are precarious workers under mp3 management systems; deployed to amplify the reach of Big Pharmony.

Here in Melbourne, the Goth Weather is finally upon us and we still cannot legally rave. Today, however, to accommodate for this we bring you the third installment of our HER TRANSMISSIONS series. 

Transmission #3 is an energetic and strong mix from Indonesian artist, DJ, and fashion designer, Itta S.Mulia, AKA- MIXXIT. Hailing from Yogyakarta, Indonesia, MIXXIT has been DJing since 2018 and combines multiple genres and scenes to create her fun, high-energy DJ mixes. A single mix can see crosses between Electronic, techno, punk, metal, experimental music as well as Dangdut Koplo and other traditional forms of Indonesian/ Java music. 

We got to spend some time with Mixxit before the lockdowns on her Australian tour and were really moved by hearing her own story of how she has been working to create safe space for women in Yogyakarta by hosting events and having parties in her studio.

However many weeks we are into this COIVD-19 Lockdown, our current societal collapse is lacking a few things to really go full Mad Max. Luckily for you, we have this live recording from Melbourne’s own DJ Burnout @user-969757795 to hoon us toward the dystopia we deserve.  DJ Burnout was birthed after trip to Poland where the quintessential need for speed was heavily implanted. Since then, with a growing library of techno, gabber, trance, and more DJ Burnout have continued to appear places such as The Club, The Sweaty Rave, The Sydney Rave, and the Donk Rave.   Be sure to drift out with this turbocharged oil burner of a mix, recorded at our HER Melbourne Launch Party. HER 他 Transmission 004: DJ Burnout

For the 5th instalment of our Transmission series, we have invited a special guest, the esoteric PRINCESS @prinprinfordindin . This mix comes at your fast and never lets up and we absolutely adore it and really hope that you can have some fun with it as well!

Rather than introduce this artist we reached out and asked them to tell us about themselves, their mix and how they have felt during the past few weeks during COVID-19 Lockdown. 


“Hello my name is Rain. I DJ under the handle "PRINCESS" (this is a new DJ name). I am not a famous DJ so only my friends know me. I am currently building a Doll House Dance Club. It is for raving while the clubs are still closed. It works as an interactive online role playing game. 

Since the beginning of quarantine my housemates and I continue to dance as one remedy to the isolation we must now (try to) embrace. So this mix is fast. The formula is simple: the second half is faster than the first half and so on. A lot of the songs come from the folder I played (B2B with my friend Tori as the Teddy-Bear Co-op) at the Crazy Arms closing party in March: DnB/Jungle (mostly new skool but some old skool) and dance-core. There is also some drill (UK, West Sydney and Brooklyn) to reflect what I have been listening to in isolation.

We are always excited ahead of time to share with you the amazing mixes we are sent for our Transmission series, and for number 9 this isn’t any different. HER 他 Transmission 009 comes to you via Taiwan born, Berlin-based musician and audio technologist, Mei-Fang Liau, otherwise known as Floating Spectrum. 

Floating Spectrum's music shimmers with elemental richness, as synths, meditative drones, and heavily processed samples evolve across layered environmental soundscapes. Her sonic journeys explore themes of growth, decay, and the contradictory place of humans within nature. 

As Floating Spectrum, Mei-Fang creates intuitive and emotional compositions from a technically rigorous practice, coding her own custom generative music engines and software synthesizers. Using self-made tools such as Polyphylla, her fractal-based synthesizer inspired by patterns in nature, she is able to craft a wide range of intricate, organic computer-based sounds with subtlety and depth.

Our 10th transmission again takes us back to our Melbourne Launch party at the very very sadly missed Crazy Arms and was recorded by Melbourne-based Taiwanese DJ, Kaytseng. Somehow through all the sweat and vibes this mix was recovered and we are able to share the original recording with you for Her Transmission 010.

Kaytseng was born in Taiwan but now resides in Melbourne and is a regular on the Melbourne DJ circuit with her alternation between jumpy and jagged electro, Heavy pounding techno and aggressive EBM. Kaytseng has defied convention at every turn and this Live recording is proof of that. Big things!!!

Lucky number 11 in the HER Transmission Series brings an incredible mix from the Hong Kong based producer and DJ - ASJ. A Spiritual Journey. 

ASJ attributes everything in her musical journey to her spiritual awakening. An awakening that taught how to love and respect the self more, read every encounter as a blessing and to treat life as her own playground.  ASJ believes her purpose is to continue to create and share what she is passionate about while becoming one with the universe.

ASJ has released music on Sonia Calico’s label UnderU, as well as Hong Kong Label Absurd Tax, which released her Digital LP “The Road to Become One” in 2018. ASJ has also self-released a number of albums and EPs.

For the 13th installment of the HER Transmission series, we are excited to take you to Japan and share with you this powerful, heavy-hitting, sonic mix by Japanese Multi-instrumentalist and composer, Yuko Araki. We really appreciate the diversity shown in this mix and hope that you guys will enjoy it.

As a child, Yuko Araki played piano but it was later in her teenage years that she was inspired by hardcore and metal music, which lead her down her eclectic path in a diverse range of projects such as drummer of the oriental/tribal dream-psych band Kuunatic, a founding member of Neo-Classical noise duo Concierto de la Familia as well as her own solo project that mixes harsh noise drones with layers of analog synthesizers, cymbals, and samples of traditional Japanese instruments.

Yuko released her debut album ‘II” in October 2019 through boutique Italian tape label Commando Vanessa.

Creating a mix series gives us a chance to reach out to some of the artists who we really enjoy and for HER Transmission 014, we are really happy to bring to you this incredible live recording from Melbourne techno queen, Lara K.

Lara K makes electronic dance music that combines vocals with expansive synths and glitchy drums, often self-releasing these works to her SoundCloud and Bandcamp pages. She was a featured artist on the IF records compilation Zeitgeist IV and has opened as live support for acts such as Norman Nodge, Dasha Rush, and Etapp Kyle. In 2020, Lara K will be releasing a lot more music, stay ready.

We’ve said it before but will say it again, We really appreciate the opportunity that curating a mix series give us to contact artists whose work we enjoy and invite them to create something new for the Transmissions Series. The 15th mix in the series come from Russian artist and musician, Anastasia Tolchneva (Анастасия Вадимовна Толчнева), who performs as Lovozero. 

Lovezero is a bold new voice from the Russian electronic scene who works at the intersection of sound, technological and performance practices. Lovozero’s music is intensely emotional, Devastating and beautiful. Her Debut album ‘Moroka’ came out on Russian imprint ‘Full of Nothing’  in 2017 and followed it up with the incredible ‘Descend’ which came out on KlammKlang earlier this year.

This Friday we bring you another incredible mix from an artist whose work we have been admiring for quite some time. The 17th installment of the HER 他 Transmission series comes from the Berlin Based- Taiwanese experimental and electronic producer, SABIWA. 

SABIWA began a life in music inside of an aquarium and has since then developed a strong passion for electronic music, sound design, and field recording. As a producer, she sculps sounds from their natural and synthetic sources and allows them to interact with abstract patterns, form and textures. These explorations merge alongside her processed voice as the guiding path of her compositions. As well as sounds, SABIWA also curates the live visuals for her performances. Other work includes composition for art performances, soundtracks, and documentaries, which includes many collaborations with numerous artists and musicians.

Let’s mix things up a bit here. For the 19th installment of the HER 他 Transmission series, we reached out to the incredible Zhao Cong from Beijing, China. 

Zhao Cong is an experimental sound artist and improviser who uses everyday items to play and create in her world of improvised sound. Through items such as paper, metal, cloth, and strings combined with condenser and contact microphones, Cong is able to birth strange differences within sound using relatively simple actions. Cong has released a solo album, ‘Rotating, Rotating’, and also features as a bass player in various other outfits including Not in Catalog and Kaoru Abe No Future.

Happy Friday and happy 20th installment of the HER 他 Transmission mix series! One of the ideas we have tried to explore with this series is celebrating both local and international artists while giving a platform to so many artists and people that we enjoy, love, and want to celebrate. So for the 20th Transmission, we’re happy to share this mix by Naarm/ Melbourne DJ and Producer, Thao.

Under her DJ moniker, BB BAN GAS, and producer alias THU Care, Thao weaves her stories across multiple genres spanning from RnB and Hip- Hop to World Music and Field Recordings, using sounds formed from her daily life as part of a broader community and family. As a non-Black person, Thao wishes to acknowledge and pay respects to Black culture, Black Music, and its roots in slavery.

OK Sure has been infatuated with electric music since the age of 13 and has never shown signs of slowing down or stopping. In her most recent form, OK SURE brings a kinetic combination of dark, mood and melodic electronic music that seems tailor designed for the dance floors of Rainbow Serpent, Rose Quartz, Arcadia and Let Them Eat Cake. It’s Friday again which means we get to share with you another really special and really powerful mix. The 23rd instalment of the HER 他 Transmission series comes to you by one of Naarm/Melbourne’s favorite and hardest working electronic producers, Nina Buchanan.

Nina Buchanan works at the very intersection of club music, analogue synth experimentation and classical composition. Highly renowned for her powerful live performances, Buchanan approaches techno with a sparse array of tools; A single synth and a drum machine that weave and create lucious melody, heavy hitting rhythm and atmospheric soundscapes. Releasing work on Melbourne’s Nice Music label, Buchanan has released two acclaimed EPS and is set to release her debut LP later in 2020.

HER 他 Transmission 022: JiaLing

For the 22nd instalment of the HER 他 Transmission series we get to travel to the underground electronic music scene of Tel Aviv, where Taiwanese American artist, DJ and producer JiaLing is currently based.

Born in the USA, JiaLing began her career in music as a classically trained cellist, before, while living in Sydney Australia she devoted herself to electronic music and sound art. JiaLing’s approach and style are influenced by sounds from around the world. Her mixes interchange between an eclectic collage of flavours and rhythms that blend house, electro, techno, breakbeat amongst other subgenres, stitching together a story strongly connected to the spontaneity for one to dance. JiaLing has presented work for the Parsons School of Design and the MicroscopeGallery in Brooklyn. For her own productions, she uses a combination of Max/MSP and jitter programming for live sound and image and processing of the cello, wishing to reclaim the ‘classical’ instruments in this digital age.

This mix was created by one of the truest underground angels of the Naarm/ Melbourne rave and hardcore scenes, Bridget Flack.

Writing this introduction has been difficult, however, it was important to Bridget that this mix be released and shared. She said it was the best mix she’d ever made.

We want to honour not only an amazing artist and DJ but also an incredible member of our community, whose impact on our underground music scene we want to celebrate. We know she put so much thought, effort and passion into creating this and we hope that in sharing it we can bring to you that same passion and energy that Bridget radiated each and every day of her life.

Below is the statement she sent us to publish alongside her mix;.
“It’s been said that DJ Brigida fell into the world of electronic music from ‘that one Chumbawamba album where they use a lot of breakbeat loops.’ From there her and her friends would pretend they enjoyed running and hosting punk shows, only until they realised how much easier it is when you throw parties and don’t invite bands, thus starting the Vapor Noir collective in 2016.

As a DJ, Brigida is easily distracted and capricious, technically favouring UK bass music but often straying in confusing and aesthetically annoying directions. She tries as much as possible to invade male spaces, be obnoxiously Trans, hide Communist discourse as well as Chumbawamba into her work, while pretending also to be a robot”

Vixen is one of the fastest rising talents coming from the incredible and ever growing underground scene in the Danish capital of Copenhagen.
