This body of work is a representation and reflection of what was the hardest two years of my life. It is my experience with love known and love lost in many forms, over and over and over again. It was during this time that I learned how to respect the darkness. How to live with it and cherish it. I don’t believe we as human beings get stronger from constantly sitting in the light, from things forever going well.It is in the middle of the turmoil, at the deepest part of rock bottom, in the center of a tumultuous ocean that we find ourselves growing and changing, rising and fighting. We walk through the darkness to find the light.

We’ve all loved somebody we shouldn’t. ‘Like a Nightmare’ is the acceptance we face when we know that the last thing we need is exactly what we want. 

Written in a single session with Blanke and Riley Thomas during the 2019 Nashville Electronic Writers’ Camp at Spotify's Secret Genius Studio, this song has since inspired me to be okay with the fact that sometimes we choose the wrong people. Sometimes we hold on far too long and learn the lesson a little too late. It’s a reminder of our humanity and our fragility as human beings, especially when it comes to love. - Brittany
