This is my first HXV release in over three years. I’ve actually started on this song in 2015. Slowly working and reworking it I probably have over 30 versions just dialing in the balance, testing it at shows and going back in on it. Originally it was meant to just be a snarky comment about people not dancing at shows or tik tok culture. During the pandemic and subsequent shut down of night life though I felt like the song shifted and I saw it under a new lens.

With the VULTURES EP we went to a very dark place, and the results are very loud and very violent.  Instead of the faster tempos of standard EDM trap music, dubstep or drum n bass speeds we went slower, more menacing.  Bringing the tempos down to 117 BPM that mirrored the tempo of current Atlanta rap music and pulling inspirations from techno labels such as CLR and Zone; PLAGUES is the next piece of this vision.

Here it is! My guest mix for Diplo and Friends that aired on BBC1/1xtra last week, completely uncut and unedited! Features tons of my favorite tracks at the moment and some forthcoming HXV tracks. With this mix I showcased not only what to expect when you see HXV dj but also put together the influences seen in our new material. The dark minimal sounds of techno mixed the 808s and experimental production found in current southern rap. The prevailing theme in this mix is the sound of real darkness, at parts its slow an immersive in textures and other parts its violent and abrupt. This is the closest thing you can get to seeing a sketch book of where HXV influences come from. Enjoy the ride.

The Trap Ambassador of Atlanta, Heroes x Villains (HXV), also known as Daniel Pollard is back with his latest single, “Novocaine.” At its core, Novocaine is a real and honest representation about the drug and alcohol addiction HXV continuously faces in his life. The song, written and performed from the perspective of the disease, by longtime friend and collaborator Naz Tokio is an intimate portrayal of the insidious and isolating nature of addiction. Her soothing vocals coaxing the listener into relapse and the perceived safety of a high. The song doesn’t necessarily represent a new direction for one of the pioneers of trap music, but rather a new progression in his expression through the use of monstrous 808's and a moving melody, diving deeper into the layers of his personality and barring them for all to witness. Novocaine premiered today on Friday October 7th, 2016 via Billboard, and is available to stream and download on all major music platforms.

A lot of the new music I’ve been writing is going back to my roots and music I have loved since I was a kid. I noticed textures, sounds and the feeling I got from music I enjoy to listen to found in NIN, Depeche Mode, Deftones, Beach House, My Bloody Valentine, and Slowdive weren’t in anything I was doing. 

I started to explore new tempos, new sounds and textures and tried to incorporate that into my work. I was also faced with the challenge of writing music that will connect without vocals or a vocal hook of any kind. To make something heavy, personal, and still human without human elements. 

I left "Where Do We Go From Here" purposefully minimal, cavernous, this is the beginning of a longer process. I wanted to set out and define what HXV is and sounds like once and for all; not as a reaction to the project's environment, but something separate from EDM, separate from traditional festival music. Something that stands on its own.

Hell Mouth

Atlanta based production duo Heroes x Villains is announcing a new EP and Trap music documentary in partnership with the premiere mixtape website LiveMixtapes.com and it's sister site ClubTapes.com.  The documentary Certified Trap traces the evolution of Trap music from its beginnings as a seminal southern Hip-Hop movement to its recent rebirth that fuses traditional Trap with electronic music - an aggressive new sound being embraced by music-forward youth cultures across the United States.  Certified Trap also features cameos from Trap icons Waka Flacka, Trap-A-Holics, Drumma Boy, Sonny Digital and DJ Spinz as well as producers who are driving the new Trap sound such as Flosstradamus and FKi.

Accompanying the documentary will be Run The Trap, an EP from Heroes x Villains - who the film focuses on as a pivotal force in Trap's resurgence - that captures the essence of the sub-genre's forward progress.  The first single "OG Choppaz" will be released, along with a trailer for Run The Trap on August 14th at 12pm EST, 2012.  All music and video content for the EP and documentary will be available exclusively on ClubTapes.com

"OG... the beginning, the genesis. Every trend, every movement has a starting point, a nexus; with individuals operating as frontiersmen often with little to no recognition until the predominant culture takes notice and sometimes, not even then.

'Trap music,' a genre notorious for it's high octane, aggressive beats, is the new buzz word in dance music circles. As part of Adidas' "Unite All Originals" campaign, Atlanta's trap lords Heroes x Villains joined forces with London production duo Stooki Sound for an international collaboration that took the theme of originality to another level.  Comprised of noises captured in the Stooki jewelry studio and featuring rapper Rome Fortune, "Today" is the ultimate collision of cultures, sounds, and genres.  After debuting as a stream on Adidas' website, Heroes x Villains have officially made the track available to download for the first time via their Soundcloud account.

Currently on tour in Europe, Heroes x Villains exploded in the last few months of 2012 with the release of their debut EP Run The Trap.  The duo of Daniel Disaster and Pete Heartless have shown no signs of slowing down in the new year as 2013 has seen them drop their official remix of Major Lazer's "Jah No Partial" and the Adidas "Unite All Originals" collaboration.

What once was considered a clandestine cave nuzzled in the shadows of Atlanta's W hotel, finally comes to light as Atlanta's home for forward thinking music and culture. Like the VAVLT BOYZ mix tape series, VAVLT is the brain child of dj/producers Heroes x Villains and BLKKMORRIS . The duo have teamed together to create a collective of like minded forward thinking musicians including long time collaborators Ira G & NEVR of BOSCO band, Respire , R______P, and new comers HYDRABADD. 

For their first official release off of VAVLT, the team has rallied behind HYDRABADD to release a remix EP of the duos noxious single Sanctuary featuring vocalist Abra.
