Rhedcerulean invited me to do a remix of his track Sweet Kiwi. A true remix in the fact that nothing other than the original stems created by Rhedcerulean were used.

Rhedcerulean - Sweet Kiwi (Nux Vomica Apteryx Mix)

The first piece produced by Vashta Nerada - a project formed by m^tH Lewis of Noisepsalm and Alan Herrick of Nux Vomica. Vashta Nerada was formed with the intention of pushing limits and exploring sound through collaborative efforts and experimental processing. 

This track was created from an original piece generated by m^tH which was then time stretched 6x its original length, pitch shifted and then processed by Alan Herrick to create a textural drone. The title is taken from the 1821 essay by Percy Blythe Shelley -  A Defence of Poetry - "Poets are the hierophants of an unapprehended inspiration; the mirrors of the gigantic shadows which futurity casts upon the present."

A live improvisation on December 17 2011 entitled Various Conventional Objects in memory of the 1969 closing of the Project Blue Book study of UFO's by the United States Air Force. The Air Force stated that sightings are generated as a result of "A mild form of mass hysteria, Individuals who fabricate such reports to perpetrate a hoax or seek publicity, psychopathological persons, and misidentification of various conventional objects."

Nux Vomica - Various Conventional Objects

In Sami myth, during Winter Solstice,Beaivi the Sun Goddess travels with her daughter Beaivi-nieida through the sky in an enclosure covered by reindeer bones, bringing green plants back to the winter earth for the reindeer to eat. She was also called upon to restore the mental health of those who went insane because of the continual darkness of the long winter.

Worshippers of Beaivi used to sacrifice white female animals, and thread the meat onto sticks which they bend into rings and tie with bright ribbons. They also cover their doorposts with butter so Beaivi can eat it and begin her journey once again. This is called the Festival of Beaivi.

She is associated with the fertility of plants and animals, in particular reindeer.

Nux Vomica - Meshes of the Afternoon

A special offering for Solstice 2012. The traditional East Asian calendars divide a year into 24 solar terms (節氣). Dōngzhì (pīnyīn) or Tōji (rōmaji) (Chinese and Japanese: 冬至; Korean: 동지; Vietnamese: Đông chí; literally: "winter's extreme") is the 22nd solar term, and marks the winter solstice. In China, Dongzhi was originally celebrated as an end-of-harvest festival. Today, it is observed with a family reunion over the long night, when pink and white tangyuan are eaten in sweet broth to symbolise family unity and prosperity.

A cover of the song Breathe by Gilmour, Waters, Wright, and Mason. Originally Released in 2008 on G:NOME's CD Polymorphism. Piano and vocals by Brent (Mr.) Goodbar. Synthesis, sound effects, sound processing, studio trickery and production by Alan Herrick (Nux Vomica). 

This version contains Breathe and Breathe (Reprise) as well as a middle segment short rendition of an On The Run type passage composed as a brief tribute/homage to Ron Geesin. 

G:NOME Breathe

Alan Herrick is the founder of Auricular Records and the SF BAy Area ambient soundart group Nux Vomica. His experience and history within the experimental music community has allowed him to perform and  and collaborate with Big City Orchestra, G:NOME, Noisepsalm, Dr. Shinto, Instagon, Eric Hausmann, Space Gambus Experiment and many more. Alan specializes in the utilization of found sounds and audio processing for the creation of ambient/experimental soundscapes and aural sculpture.
