Headphones? Check. USBs? Backup USBs? Check check. We hop on the bikes and race off into the Playa, 25 mins before our playtime, wondering how we managed to leave so late for our first set at this year's Burn and our first set ever at Robot Heart. Luckily, a quick scan of the horizon reveals a huge, red heart straight ahead. We sprint towards the bus, tumble into its stomach and head up to the booth with 10 mins to spare. Made it!

We insert our USBs, one by one, and proceed to pick our jaws off from the floor: all Burning Man playlists empty - wait, empty?! What about the backup USBs - empty! Second pair of sticks - same story. We look at each other and laugh, look down into the lights and slowly descend into our element. We have been looking forward to this so much and no missing playlists are going to take that away from us. And that’s how we - against all odds - literally played our hearts out on a moving bus and under a beating heart <3

Caleesi & Sarah Kreis - Robot Heart - Burning Man 2022

On the 16th of September 2023 @balanca-music and me were playing together a hypnotic ambient downtempo set at IFZ. Cause I was in charge of the first circa 1,5 hours, wich was btw my first ambient set at all, I decided to upload my intro as an excerpt of the full set. 

All Sets of this beautiful @quartal-techno showcase at TRAK III will be served the following days.

Nælida @ Aequalis IFZ TRAKT III (quartal. Ambient Showcase - Excerpt)

A few days ago, we had the pleasure to witness the beautiful Aurora Borealis in our European spheres. A harbinger of the moonlit and starry summer nights that lie ahead. Nælida is our next “Dynamic Spheres” adept and will provide the perfect soundtrack for your upcoming nocturnal sessions.

Based in the vibrant city of Berlin, she found her musical home in Hypnotic Techno a few years ago. Since then, she has honed her craft to tell musical stories that can send the listener into uncharted territory while covering various aesthetics from organic and minimalist to experimental and leftfield.

Nælida proves her versatile skills with this mix that explores everything breaky. Broken beats are paired with warm basslines, intelligent rhythms with epic atmospheres, all topped off with spacey sounds that give the feeling of visiting an unexplored galaxy.

🗯🗯 How Did Corona change your artist life? 🗯🗯

As ambiguous as it is, there is no way to answer it simply. On the one hand, I do miss the audience, the intimacy and the energy one can create and share through listening and dancing during a live DJ performance. On the other hand, an artist is an artist and remains an artist regardless of what is happening in the “outer world”. From this perspective, everything that is happening can be good as a point of departure for further artistic explorations and experiments, and I am simultaneously really thankful for the spaces and the rhythms the current Pandemic has opened up. At the moment I am working more and more in the context of galleries and museums and happy for my recent collaboration with the Gallery Wedding in Berlin. Also, I am discovering more and more rudimental ways of working with sound, frequency and vibration and currently develop my practice as a Gong player offering different types of experiences to different audiences in unusual settings. There is always a deeper integration and meaning to everything that unfolds around us. I think I will leave it here but you can always hit me up if you'd like to know more.

🗯🗯 Where did you record the mix and how did you feel? 🗯🗯

I have recorded my mix live in my studio in Berlin, with a beautiful view into the backyard of an old German building. 

I am on the last floor here and my main view is a massive chunk of the sky,
which is also a sonic space I am always aware of when working on my sets. It is a bliss to say the least.

🗯🗯 What are your wishes for the time after Corona? 🗯🗯

Whether post- Corona or with Corona I am not wishing anything for myself per se. My wish is that this situation is a profound lesson and a wake-up call for everyone to be more where you are in the moment, in here and now. Be present in every day and be in the moment.

This is pretty much the same as what I expect from a live performance as well, creating a moment of presence together as a shared common experience. There is only now. The more we are here the better it is for all of us. Also, I think of my sets as reminders to arrive and become more aware and
conscious about what is happening in this very moment.
