TECHNO-MIX

After the success of the first A-sides compilation in 2012, Adam Beyer has decided its time to release another. With Adam's stature steadily growing as one of the leading talents in the Techno scene and the rise of Drumcode, the standard of demo's that have been sent to Adam have been top notch. Adam has now decided to release two compilations with 10 tracks on each, both consisting of tracks that Adam has tried and tested. There are also new artists that have been invited to release on Drumcode for this compilation and others who are a staple in Drumcode's core family. Combining both old and new talents Drumcode have come up with something unique and distinctive to make this two-part compilation something extra special.

MOUTH TO MOUTH 10:

The original single came about during a very productive week for me. I made 5 songs in in 7 days right before one of the early DEMF festivals in Detroit. There was a great energy being shared by a lot of artists then, and I had just returned from a two week tour of Europe where I was ingesting so much new music. I sat down at my studio in Detroit and tried to recreate what I was hearing in the clubs. Mouth to Mouth was the stand out track of that session, and I made the entire thing in a few hours. I recorded it mostly live, tweaking and building the synths and muting/unmuting the channels in real time and just recording the result. I cleaned it up a little bit afterward, but left the length and overall arrangement intact. I remember playing it for a few people right away and it was clear something special was happening. There is something meditative in the simple repetition and slow build of it all. 

For this remix package, I chose every remixer. I went to my close friends, favourite remixers, and people I have always respected. There is such a diverse spread of talent with these artists, I knew every remix would be completely different. Each remix represents a different side of techno, which is where all of these artists come from. Everyone put a piece of themselves into this, and I'll forever be grateful to them for contributing to the project.

The true techno dream team of Dubfire & Oliver Huntemann revisit their Elements project from a few years ago with a new series of killer remixes. Terra - originally released in 2011, did all sorts of damage to dance-floors across the globe. Now, it’s all set to do it again thanks to this Joseph Capriati Remix. The Italian techno headliner has grown into a major force on the scene in recent years, and here delivers a signature slice of muscular, driving techno - taut, dramatic and devastating. Paired with a remix of the now seminal Feugo Julien Jeweil’s remix also hits the spot - the track received a 2016 overhaul with some of Jeweil’s signature flair. The Frenchman has been a constant figure on the top of various charts and line ups for some time, and its easy to see why - Fuego is stripped back machine funk primed for big systems and even bigger moments.

Naturally it was up to 1605 to bring the anthem of anthems to the spotlight once again and hit everyone where it hurts, with five completely different renditions.

Umek sets the record straight with a monstrous interpretation, ready to stand the test of times to come. The journey continues with D. Ramirez and his bouncing version, while Uto Karem goes the subliminal route. There can be little doubt as to the influence Alan Fitzpatrick has had on the current Drumcode sound. A consistent provider of musically inventive techno that takes its inspiration from a wide palette of influences; Fitzpatrick tracks are immediately recognizable for their refusal to conform to the norm. This latest release, the subject of much hype and anticipation, is no different. Lead track, ‘Skeksis’ conjures up an unlikely fusion of a pumped-up dub techno groove and a 90’s Trance vocal to create a slow-burning, emotive bomb, while ‘For An Endless Night’ rolls out a steady driving rhythm that provides the backdrop for a distinctive chiming melody to sweep in and take over.
