Basket Case

This is a remix that was done in my first year at college, I have now remastered this

The format has been compressed down to 320kbs mp3 from 16bit 44.1kHz

The software used to mix was done in protools 8, using native plugins and mastered in Wave burner

Spaceman

This was a track produced and recorded using an mbox 2 and apple logic software.

I double tracked guitar as well as using midi and routing to a drum synth to try and capture the correct sound. This is to try an show the work I can do on a small budget as well as the idea that a home studio can be possible with successful results in terms of sound quality.

Home track

Again this is another example of trying to show technique when working in a bedroom studio. As I had no available condenser mic to hand to record vocals, I opted for the cheap and nasty sounding i phone microphone and recorded a voice memo. As the actual transfer of the audio is lossy format, I was already dealt a blow. Overall It shows the understanding that compression is really important to consider when dealing with Audio.

The electric guitar is recorded through DI in the mbox interface. The software used was Logic Pro 9. The handclaps were also recorded using the iPhone and used on a sound synth to match/double on the transients of the acoustic guitar recording for a natural feel.

This audio is compressed down to 320kbs mp3 although as previously stated, there is already lossy formatted tracks within this so electric guitar and tambourine sound are the better sounding tracks to the song.

Sleeping sickness cover

This is a remix of the constelations "back in atlanta"

The brief was to rediscover local music through a remix of their original multi tracks

I used Logic Pro to do my remix of this

I captured and sliced the original bass track of the stems and applied these to the synth instrument in logic to create a new bass line that followed the original key. In addition I also sampled again the drums to the original song and used a sound replacer as well to thicken up the beats for an electro house version. The vocals have been used in time with the song as well as the structure to the verses, I did however move the timing of the vocals to suit a standard 8 bar structure common in dance music and remix technique.

The remaining tracks are built up using soft synths that were adjusted to my own setting with obvious automation and filter used throughout the track.

The track was mastered using Wave burner and is compassed down to 320kbs mp3 from 16bit Wave at 44.1Khz
