'New Blood 014' is the latest instalment of fresh cuts from a new generation of Med School undergraduates and undiscovered stars of the future. Graduates from previous editions include Etherwood, Royalston, Keeno, Anile, Lung, Rawtekk and Joe Syntax, all of whom now permanently and exclusively reside on the label. Who from the class of 2014 will make the grade?

Months of extensive talent-scouting and listening to countless demos has resulted in an expansive and genre-crossing collection of sounds that will impress drum+bass specialists from across the board.

Lakeway’s tale of misadventure continues with the second instalment of his synth-wave and instrumental grime inspired drum & bass. ‘The Misadventures of Lakeway Part 2’ includes three tracks of cross-genre experimentation and meddling bass infusions. This EP is also the final release on Hospital Records’ sister label Med School, following the label’s recent closure. Keep an eye out for the future ‘Misadventures of Lakeway’ on Diffrent Music in 2020.

Heading up the second set of misadventures is ‘Can’t Beg’ - bittersweet vocals from Rubi Elle glide over dark synths and hypnotic arpeggios. The haunting stepper ‘No Regrets’ is coated in icy soundscapes with rattling percussion and jungle influences. ‘Tearful Tripper’ is littered with heavyweight percussion, and is a testament to Lakeway’s reputation as a fearless beatsmith.

Little is known about 2222 but in this instance it's more useful to let the music do the talking anyway. Detail's hard-hitting first track is a minimal stomp through electronic and neuro influences. With cinematic breakdowns and some serious atmospheric build-up, expect to hear it on a mixtape near you soon. Following this penchant for all things dark, crisp and minimal, Haemoglobin's offering steps hard to an echoing synthy backdrop. Noel & Exit9's "Can't Be There" softens the corners with a deliciously deep roller of a bassline, and to throw yet another curveball, Hidden Elements - "Nr 13" is a beautiful piece of microfunk, delicate and subtle with an intense level of production skill. Hidden Element - Nr 13 [22:22] - OUT NOW!

Hidden Element is electronic act from Kyiv, Ukraine. By blending elements of breakbeat, techno and ambient, producer Igor Kirilenko creates forward-thinking music with shifty rhythms, cinematic samples and deep textures. Inspired by classic sci-fi movies, it’s a perfect soundtrack both for crowded ecstatic club nights and solitary mind-wandering.

Igor began releasing tracks as Hidden Element in 2011, firstly as a duo with Nil Tarasov, and now as a solo project. Over the years he released music on various labels including Med School, Pinecone Moonshine, Alphacut, Silent Season, YUKU. 

Project’s track “I See The Light” (feat. Kiyomi Yamashita) was noted by DJ Mag as “Track of the Month”. Track “Reload, Replay” was played by Steve Lamacq on BBC1Xtra. Debut LP “Together” released on Absys Records in 2016 received a number of positive reviews and warm feedback from El Hornet (Pendulum), Ulrich Schnauss and other producers. 

Hidden Element also created official remixes for a variety of artists, from British drum’n’bass legend London Elektricity to Ukrainian pop-singer and Eurovision winner Jamala.

In 2020–2021 Hidden Element manifested a new ambitious chapter with EP trilogy “Comparisons” / “Kontinuum” / “Cycles”. Packed with intense contemporary breakbeat and seasoned with high class remixes from Throwing Snow, Andre Bratten, Prayer, Cocktail Party Effect, these EPs earned praise from Mixmag Japan, Mixmag UK, Mixmag Brazil, BARKS, Qetic, Inverted Audio etc. A bunch of tracks from the trilogy was also aired on BBC Radio 1 in numerous guest mixes.
