The sun was shining and the weather was glorious but that was not a reason to get carried away for in the blink of an eye the water might splash too high and drag you desperately out of depth. Out here in the middle of nowhere, amidst the wild things, he felt peaceful and at home. The river seas always did that...

Plage 84 has been remixed by Hidden Spheres, a producer who has shown great consistency and focus in recent years having released an array of records on the likes of Scissor and Thread, Lobster Theremin, Moods & Grooves, Distant Hawaii and Church. This is a triumphant remix rounded off with horns and thunder.

Francis Harris’ Thresholds album dropped on his own Scissor and Thread, garnering rave reviews for an album steeped in atmospheres, drone textures and electro-acoustic explorations. 

It’s an album far removed from the dancefloor, but he’s also managed to curate a remix package from some of the most talented and boundary-pushing artists active on the fringes of the electronic music space. 

First up is Manchester resident Hidden Spheres’ remix of Earth Moves, which is flipped into a pulsating slice of electronica. 

Yu Su, the up-and-coming producer currently living in Canada, takes the same track on a different journey, resulting in a slinky, affecting piece of music that eventually falls into a deep groove.  

Speaker Music - the moniker of ‘rhythmanalyst’ DeForrest Brown, Jr., delivers two reworks of the albums title track Thresholds. The Rhythm Remix focuses on the original’s brass washes, and adds a thick, playful bass rhythm. The Studio Soul remix is more a freeform piece of audio manipulation and editing, resulting in a transportative piece of work that fully compliments the original track.

Hidden Sphere’s wanted to explore Treasure’s melancholy vocal tones on “I’ll Always Love You” which resulted in an eerie offering paired perfectly with a Dub/Breaks backdrop.

Featuring the combined talents of Allysha Joy, Hidden Spheres AKA Tom Harris and Finn Rees the single ‘Trust the Feeling’ is the first release from the trio’s upcoming album Solina and is a track that gives us a very real insight into the Balearic House, Street Soul, Alternative RnB and Jazz influences that interweave throughout the album to create a musical landscape that speaks to the heart, spirit, body and mind with intention.

Trust the Feeling is a track that persuades us to slow down to make love, to make sense of yourself, to be in connection to others, in connection to life, an intimacy with all things, as a way of moving with closeness and in deep breath, where light touches and draws us closer.

All three artists have an amazing musical pedigree having between them worked as part of such innovative acts as 30/70 Collective, Close Encounters and on numerous collaborations with bands, artists and producers from across the globe. All have had releases on highly regarded international and independent music labels and have played and appeared on major festival line-ups including We Out Here.

Taken from Solina, Promised Me Love is the second single to come from the album and is an amazing showcase for the collaborative and synergistic ethos it comes from as well as the trio of Allysha Joy, Hidden Spheres and Finn Rees who created this originative music.

Promised Me Love is a song that encapsulates the emotions of falling for someone; of how it feels like chasing the wind as you dance together, the need to know that they feel the same as you, the feeling that distance can seem wider, about how you need them to be thinking about you as much as you do about them, about the need for the promise of love even when they cannot make that promise.

The trio of Joy Spheres Rees are all established artists in their own right, with solo and collective credits over the past decade . Firstly as part of the burgeoning and increasingly important scenes in Melbourne/Naarma, Brisbane and Sydney and as global artists with releases on hugely influential labels. Many will know of their work with 30/70 Collective and Close Encounters, amongst others, and many will have experienced their musical creativity on festival line-ups including Gilles Peterson's We Out Here.
