Speaking Spaces, No. 1: Heterotopia

A 1983 Fairlight CMI Series IIx going through her paces whilst testing out her striking glissando effects and realtime control over the sample looping points with live audition, filter cutoff and glissando rate following major repairs and overhaul here in the workshop.  The sample used was synthesized on the Fairlight using the harmonic wave generation functions that came as standard with the Series IIx software.

This is an Extract from the Premiere of my new solo performance "Interdimensional Generated Space", premiered in October 2022 at Panke Culture in Belin, as a part of the series (Von Antennenwäldern und Wellenozeanen) . 

A research-intensive piece focusing on the transcendental phenomenon of the Northern Lights. 
The planned performance uses the implement of self-made recordings from the Northern Lights, in combination with self-made crystal radio, plus light, detectors, and motors, to simulate a technological audio-visual version of Northern Lights in the performance space. “Interdimensional” specifically refers to the movement of energy between modes of perception. One part of this energy come from the composed mixture of “natural cosmic voices”; and another part is coming from the electromagnetic forces generated and captured in real time during the performance. The piece make full use of the contrasts of the invisible processes, to create a new experience of space, time, and human scale. 
This is an attempt to achieve a unique sonic dialogue 
between “Natural” and “Technological” world, a reflection on Nature that is imitated by technology in an anthropogenic age.

"Antonio Acunzo is a versatile musician, improviser and lover of all music, from Debussy to Joy Division. After a few years in Manchester, he moved to London in 2012 and became a regular of Eddie's workshop. He grew up in Rome influenced by Zappa and Coltrane but it is punk that inspired him to start his first band Wild Union (1980/81) followed by Clanjark (1984/92) after his military service, then the experimental outfit Memoria Zero, still going strong with 2 CD releases, Free Sdraio (2001), Between (2013). He plays drum with London based darkish esoteric band The Butterfly Wheel and co-founded the Shadow Sounds project with Tony Hardie-Bick." - Emmanuelle Waeckerle

D.A.Wilson is an Electronic Engineer, Sound Designer & Vintage Synth Specialist with a particular interest in combining vintage tube, classic analog and modern digital technologies working as a synth engineer looking after a very considerable amount of vintage studio equipment for Will Gregory (Goldfrapp / Moog Ensemble) and a number of other internationally celebrated electronic musicians and producers.  Having undertaken several major restorations and produced custom electronic designs for a number of major artists including Jean-Michel Jarre, Dani is also known for fully restoring two out of the world's four remaining 1979 Crumar GDS and partially restoring 1938 Novachord 346 (the only known operational Novachord in the UK) to playable order along with developing and producing the popular MIDI Front Panel Animator (FPA), Filter Defeat Module (FDM) and XD-280 Drive Emulator upgrades for the AKAI S612 sampler.
