Irrealidades is the new album from Mexican scene stalwart Bryan Dálvez, El Irreal Veintiuno on Infinite Machine. Although his reputation is well-established at home through EPs and tracks on NAAFI, Subreal and Infinite Machine itself, Irrealidades comes across as his boldest and most cohesive statement yet.

The album is a kaleidoscopic survey of Mexico’s rich sonic landscape, as well as an ambitious attempt to encompass the country’s historical becoming: from the rich, imagined sounds of pre-hispanic times to its current war-torn reality.

But an academic pursuit this isn’t and this is still very much music for the body. From the get-go, drums burn and rhythms gallop; sharp, aggressive synths insist and prod. Un respiro, the album’s mid-point gives us exactly that, a breather, albeit an emotionally charged one. Soon enough the second half of the record returns to polyrhythmic fury and ravey turbulence. We reach fever pitch on closer Minorías, envisioned by Bryan as a sonic representation of the eschaton: “the last track is merely the end of everything”.

Throughout the record disjointed voices loop endlessly before managing to articulate a single intelligible word. Maybe, Irrealidades seems to say, we are also caught in a loop, unable to break out from the cycle of violence and marching irredeemably (but with healthy curiosity) into The End, when Quetzalcóatl makes his glorious return.

As we enter into the 2018th Sequence of the modern earth time, so too does the Nostro Hood System advance forward, the system itself generating a gravitational pull marginally similar to that of the solar system nestled against it. Within the vast confines of the Nostro Hood, a vessel floats proudly – a beacon for the myriad of living spheres that surround it from every angle. The Waystation; a point of congregation for unimaginable beings who seek refuge, resources or even knowledge regarding the various species that occupy nearby worlds. 

At this time, at the beginning of a new year, the vessel lends its halls to the beings of the Nostro Hood. A celebration to the glowing star that lights the terrain for so many beings as it ages yet another lifetime. Providing the aural selections for this momentous occasion are ten artists, each hailing from their own homeworld, each offering a piece of auditory culture to represent the people of their planet. This multicultural experience truly defines the nature of the Nostro Hood – a celebration of difference both sonically and culturally.

The South is more than just a landscape. It is a corporal mark permeating the sensible experience; a form of imagination staggering on the edge of forgetfulness; an ambivalent minoritarian-becoming coexisting between the uncontrolled immensity of profusion and the violence of systematic plundering. 
From the record label Hiedrah Club de Baile, AGGROMANCE’s first full-length album, Turbera, is a digital handicraft piece that displays the contradictory speeds of a brown life born under the sign of the Uncomfortable, that worn coat embracing the very end of the world; a singular sound reluctant to the idea of a reconciliation between origin and destiny; a cartography from a stained body aimed to disorient the moral expectations about that sunken cry articulating its own desire to survive. 
Between the continuum of a hardcore sound lubricated by the cosmopolitan rawness and the tremor of a language desperate to the “authoctonous legitimacy”, right at the middle of the acid dampness of a nameless garden, Turbera unleashes the promise for a party gloomed by resentment as a twisted form of hope. A low-tech danceable impulse stagging that distopian futurity which we still live in, allowing us to recognize our faces against the dirty mirrors of this swamp-world, where, despise all our fatigues, there is some music worthlessly running on the melting of the global order and it harbors the password of the living.

Hiedrah is an argentine musical board based in Buenos Aires. Since 2013 we promoted the singularity of identity and cultural minorities in Latin America in order to create a new libertarian policy concerning the joy of bodies. In a constant dispute against the neo colonialist process in our region, we look forward to produce, explore and give visibility to the miscegenation and ritual experience of our ancestors. Today, our learning has leaded us to develop a management link with other artistic and militant boards of the continent. 

We are not the same: we are boosted by our differences.
