"Five years after the first volume, ARENA01, Agva Records is back with ARENA02, a mega-pack of almost forty tracks focusing on the experimental and hybrid club scene of Latin America.

Released in 2016, the first chapter laid the foundations of the label and unveiled a solid tracklisting composed of close and local members of the collective (Defensa, EL PLVYBXY, CHLO…) and international producers (King Doudou, Bigote).

For this second edition, the label did not go easy and gathered a real festival line-up. ARENA02 features projects from all over the continent and beyond, from emerging artists to real headliners: Dengue Dengue Dengue, Lao (NAAFI, Mexico), Bungalovv (TRRUENO, Argentina), Endgame (Precious Metal, UK), Catnapp, Doxxed, Pobvio, or even the Mexican producer who signed the revival of pre-Hispanic tribal, Ozomatecuhtli. Among others!"

AGVA is a Net Label, Music Collective, Radio Show and Night Club based in Buenos Aires. Within the spawn of six years we met so many wonderful people and grew as independent artists and collective in an unprecedented way, this compilation being the visible tip of an iceberg of goals we never dream they would be realizable. Following the acclaimed Kouté jazz, we are glad to announce our new project compilation with parisian label Heavenly Sweetness in collaboration with afro/antilles record expert Nicolas Skliris. This project, that we introduced in mid February as Digital Zandoli with a limited mixtape, aimed to gather a wide spectrum of tracks from pre zouk era in the french West Indies. We picked 12 slept on tracks amongst piles of obscure caribbean records to show a broader spectrum to the Zouk music style that is poorly defined.  These tracks reveal the merger between traditional and other rhythmic genres (funk, disco, afro-beat, Latin Brazilian …), with the addition of synthesizers and drums machine to the creative process. Original, magnetic and highly danceable.

Say You Love Me wasn’t “Om” Alec Khaoli’s first solo recording but the 1985 EP solidified the bass player and songwriter’s standing as one of South Africa’s most consistently innovative pop auteurs. He built a career on ubiquitous rock, pop and soul hits with groundbreaking bands like the Beaters, Harari and Umoja. But Khaoli’s seemingly endless fountain of music continued outside these ensembles, where he usually played bass and contributed songwriting and vocals.

Khaoli released several successful solo works while he made records with Umoja and worked on other productions with friends. This creativity was aided by Khaoli’s own recording studio. He was the first South African to have a privately-owned studio. As black artists were forced to record during lunch breaks and didn’t get sufficient access and time in the white-owned studios, having his studio allowed Khaoli to develop in his own way. Hence his productive output during the 80’s and early 90’s, releasing 5 LPs with Umoja and 5 solo LPs, along with numerous singles and EPs.

There’s something broad and dynamic about the almost epic pop sound Khaoli creates on Say You Love Me. Being the first South African to take control his recording process and thereby free himself from one of apartheid’s many strictures, he took his vision of music to new realms and made timeless music for the dance floor in the process.

Salviatek introduces "Asfixia", second single from its sixth release, Privacidad, from Bolivian producer Funeral.

"Asfixia" is an intense moment captured as a track. "Asfixia" is all about contrasts.

The contrast between this relaxing calm found in silence and the suffocating moments of rising tension, the contrast between soft human textures and harsh machine sounds. 

"Asfixia" uses contrast not as a divisory line but as a complementary value in duality.

Contrary to what it may seem "Asfixia" is not about aggression or violence. Its all about care and dedication expressed in each detail, the metallic and organic hits interacting, the precise cuts, everything carefully placed to achieve a climax through an almost disciplined sonic construction.

How does danger feels like inside a safe space?

Sonically speaking the track uses the human breath as a starting point and crosses it with frequencies our brains associate with danger in order to construct a bigger narrative about an intense moment where duality.
