Oggi più che mai, tentare di definire compiutamente il concetto di psichedelia musicale è impresa ardua. Forse addirittura impossibile. Raffinatissimo esercizio di dotto revivalismo? Minestrone di fatue suggestioni visionarie? Nostalgia ad occhi aperti di un'infanzia remota? Innegabilmente, entro i mobilissimi confini dell'odierno dominio psichedelico prosperano moltitudini di tradizioni sonore, declinazioni stilistiche, idiomi compositivi, che nel tempo sono andati intrecciandosi in un groviglio vitale di forme pulsanti e stratificate. La sesta puntata della saga OndaDrops decide dunque di misurarsi con le asperità e i giochi illusionistici di questo universo sfuggente, modulando originali percorsi di ricerca sonora che permettano di gettare una luce curiosa e libera da preconcetti sulle potenzialità inesplorate di una contemporaneità psichedelica tanto eclettica quanto segretamente coerente nel suo incanto e nella sua promessa di poetico rapimento. Seguendo il filo d'Arianna di una fedeltà "affettiva" alla canzone (qualunque cosa questo nome possa designare), i quindici inediti episodi che OndaRock condivide in esclusiva con i propri lettori illuminano altrettante possibilità di un linguaggio psych-pop che non cessa mai di nascere a nuova vita nella mani di chi sappia utilizzarlo con la necessaria fantasia: da genuine suggestioni sixties, passando per ardite tentazioni di pop barocco, fino a sontuose miniature ed enigmatici indovinelli fuor di ogni logica, questa antologia saprà deliziare il piccolo Nemo che alberga in ognuno di noi, viaggiatore dolce e coraggioso di un regno dei sogni che non chiede interpretazioni quanto piuttosto un tenero abbandono.

With pride Snowstar Records presents 'Waktu Dulu', Herrek's debutalbum. This new band is based around guitarist and singer Gerrit van der Scheer. Gerrit gained fame with his former bands Bonne Aparte and Adept, but chooses for a more personal approach with Herrek.

Gerrit grew up in a missionary family in Kaisah, a small village with 300 inhabitants on Papua, Indonesia, which you could only get to via the river Digul.

Today he lives in Rotterdam and makes music as Herrek; the way the Papuans pronounce Gerrit.

Partly inspired by the contemporary Brooklyn-scene, but most of all doing their own thing, Herrek delivered a debutalbum full of atmospheric, dark folk with haunting vocals and keys.

"Cypher" is an experimental black metal album, recorded entirely without vocals except sampling. The album introduces industrial and ambient elements and as a whole should be considered as a strongly psychedelic release; it produces a feeling, as if the mind of the listener, dragged into the music, were unable of concentrate itself or were experiencing a powerful hallucinogen effect.
