The Hundreds San Francisco Celebrates Its 6th Year with a Hieroglyphics Collaboration Capsule and Mixtape

 In commemoration of The Hundreds San Francisco’s 6-year anniversary, The Hundreds reunites with Bay Area hip-hop legends Hieroglyphics for a limited run of three exclusive tees. These tees will be available only at the THSF and www.shophiero.com, starting at 11am, Thursday, March 20, 2014. On the evening of this date, The Hundreds will be hosting a one-night-only event celebrating the store’s anniversary at POST Street.  Exclusively for THSF’s anniversary, a POST X Hieroglyphics mixtape will be available for download on TheHundreds.com and www.hieroglyphics.com mixed by DJ ICEWATER.

 Bobby Hundreds grew up on the esteemed Bay Area collective’s music, and all of the tees include some of his favorite elements from the Hieroglyphics legacy. From a Souls of Mischief lyric from the renowned album 93 ‘til Infinity, to a spin on an OG Del Tha Funkee Homosapien tee that, according to urban hip-hop folklore, is based on a napkin self-portrait Del drew. The Hundreds is thrilled to unite again with the Hiero crew in commemoration of THSF’s 6th year running.

 The Hundreds “Del Face” T-shirt features Del Tha Funkee Homosapien’s iconic self-portrait illustration on the front and a reappropriated The Hundreds X Hieroglyphics bomb logo at the top back. The shirt will be available in three colors.

The “Emcees” tee is emblazoned with the Souls of Mischief lyrics “Emcees Should Know Their Limitations” from their legendary 93 ‘til Infinity album. The collaborative bomb logo will be at the top back with “Souls of Mischief” stamped under. The shirt will be available in three colors.

 The “Overthrow” long sleeve features the The Hundreds X Hieroglyphics bomb graphic across the front and top back, with all the members of Hieroglyphics’ logos throughout the sleeves. The shirt will be available in three colors.

Just in time for Halloween, the Hieroglyphics crew is back with a new jawn titled “Heebie Jeebies.” The Gully Duckets-produced track finds the eight-man crew rapping over some menacing production with a slight trap feel to it. This track is one of two jawns that came out of the entire crew being together in the studio in YEARS. This week has been busy for the crew already, as member Pep Love released his Dolla Daily EP on Tuesday.

Hieroglyphics Imperium and Elevation Nation present "The Hierotrope Series"; A collection of 7" 45 singles with 2 sided on-record phonotropic artwork that comes to life, animating when viewed in a camera/phone in direct light (The more direct light the better - see below for details). The music for the series will be a variety of unreleased songs from the Hiero vault, and featured singles from upcoming projects released monthly.

All design/animation of the series is created by Unjust, long-time Hieroglyphics collaborator, and in-house producer. Keeping in tradition with Hieroglyphics' tradition of innovation, landmark creative quality, and independent ideology, this series gives it's listeners/viewers a truly unique bonus value, adding an extra layer of visual stimuli to the beloved physical act of playing a record. In the film noir tradition of Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles and Otto Preminger, TAJAI from Hieroglyphics (and Souls of Mischief) and super producer Unjust (Ron Jon Bovi, First Light, Chosen Few) have come together to craft RAP NOIR, a collection of stories from the darker side of things. On this album TAJAI plays narrator of tales of crime, vice and passion all over cinematic soundscapes provided by Unjust. 

"As an Edgar Allan Poe and Charles Bukowski fan, I wanted to delve into speaking on the seedier things I have encountered in my life as an Oakland resident and world traveler. Also, as a fan of greats like Slick Rick, Kool G Rap, Ice Cube and Nas, I wanted to use my skill at storytelling to add on to rap's tradition of cinematic wordplay that takes the listener directly into the action, often while including lessons and useful life observations."

The group plans to tour the album later this year and include some gritty visuals created by Unjust to accompany the lyrical images TAJAI's rhymes conjure. True Detective fans will appreciate this first clip from the album, "Let It Rain"
